Work Text:
Keith was awake again. He had been lying in bed staring at the ceiling for hours. He was tired of doing nothing so he went down to maybe get some food. He had been walking back to his room a small snack and water in hand, when Lance opened his door. Lance stood in his door way Keith only about 3 feet away.
"I'm sorry, did I wake you up?", Keith's voice had a twinge of sadness in it and he seemed to close into himself, clutching the food in his hands. Lance stepped forward a bit rubbing the tiredness from his eyes, "no, it's fine. Why are you awake so late?", Lance sounded worried as he seemed to look so intensely at the boy in front of him.
Keith debated lying and saying he was just thirsty but finally decided against it when he saw the worry in his partner's gaze. "I haven't been able to sleep", his voice came out weaker than he wanted and Lance took another step forward, "why?" His question was mostly curiosity.
"I have never really slept well, it's just gotten worse since being in space...", he met Lance's eyes at the end of his sentence and they stared for a couple seconds.
Lance finally did move and wrapped his arm around the side of Keith, proceeding to drag him into his own room.
Keith seemed in a daze by the sudden turn and saw that he'd been led into his own room and then he was sat onto his bed. Lance who had been standing above him was now sitting beside him, their bodies awfully close.
"You should tell someone if your struggling with something", Lance's hand was resting on Keith's middle back and rubbing circles with his thumb, "I'm sure Coran has some alternative to earth's sleeping meds". Keith was hardly focusing of his words at this point and was starting to feel tired. His body slumped a little as Lance continued to lecture him, the only thing he could really focus on was the other boys touch.
Lance was unaware of how Keith's eyes drooped further as he continued talking, he seemed to find more comfort in Lance's voice than in the actual words. Finally Lance noticed when Keith avtually fully slumped into him, his eyes entirely closed and his breathing slow. Lance sighed and layed him into the bed. Lance had moved to leave the tired boy to rest, but he felt a hand grip his sleeve. Keith's eyes barely stayed open to do this but he hugged on Lance, wanting him to stay. Lance was mystified by the pale boy, his raven hair splayed across the pillow and his body shivered a bit lacking a blanket. Lance gave in and lied down next to Keith. Keith himself was quick to find the warmth, Lance removed the jacket he had put on before leaving his room, and gave it to the still shivering Keith. Then he pulled the blanket over the both of them. They clung to eachother, both falling asleep very quickely.
