kkot Announce Third Full-Length Album, Marking Much-Anticipated Return

SEOUL — After an extensive world tour and a three-month hiatus, South Korean rock band kkot are officially making their return.
After teasing fans for months regarding a possible release, the quintet announced earlier this week through their official channels that their third full-length album is set for release next month. Titled Strawberry Boy, the album will aim to follow in the footsteps of Disco Lights, their critically praised sophomore record.
In a press conference held on Monday, the band revealed that the album will explore themes of youth, an ideal love, and what it means to truly connect with another. The album will consist of twelve tracks, with “Bubblegum" as its title, a bright and upbeat love song penned by frontman Hwang Hyunjin and composed by bassist Seo Changbin.
During an unscheduled Instagram Live hours after the press conference ended, Hwang described “Bubblegum” as “a song about the very first moment you start falling for someone, where everything is sweet and light and full of possibilities.”
The release of the lyrical teaser yesterday saw fans honing in on the song’s vivid imagery — notably the references to pink hair — and speculating online about its real-life inspirations. Hwang, however, was quick to put a stop to such interpretations in a statement posted on his Instagram Stories.
“I understand the tendency to connect songs to real life, especially when it comes to love songs,” he wrote. “But ‘Bubblegum’ isn’t written about anyone in particular. It’s meant to highlight the feeling, rather than a specific person. Ideally, listeners would be able to project the person they love into the song.”
Following his clarification, fans have praised the snippet for its intimacy and raw emotion, hallmarks of Hwang's songwriting that have defined much of kkot’s discography through the years.
kkot will release their third full-length album on April 27th, with “Bubblegum” dropping as a pre-release single ahead of the album launch on April 10th. Additional details, including the album tracklist and promotional activities, are expected to be revealed in the coming days.

kkot's frontman and vocalist Hyunjin has said that the song is meant to act as a metaphor, but some fans seem unconvinced. SEOUL — The long-awaited 2026 lineup for the annual Seoul Music Festival has been announced, with the roster drawing significant attention for its blend of top Korean acts spanning genres from pop to rock. It's safe to say that the 2026 Seoul Music Festival delivered what it promised it would – and more. SMF started off with a bang, with a remixed instrumental version of NOXUS' biggest hits over their eighteen-year career. The veterans were bolstered by the presence of new generation stars, Changbin and Jeongin from kkot, who blended in seamlessly as the metal band's guest bassist and drummer.
Rookie performers were given the chance to shine during the first half of the show, with Kim Seungmin's and Junebug's performances in particular garnering praise from festival-goers.
When night fell, the big names took to the stage. kkot's main set spanned twelve songs, with most taken from their recently released album Strawberry Boy. The band closed off their set by surprising fans with an unreleased song, a heavy rock number combined with electronica, which has been announced as an upcoming single on the band's Twitter just earlier today.

SEOUL — Global star Felix Lee has officially announced the release of his fourth album, Love Letters, alongside its supporting world tour of the same name. The surprise announcement was made earlier today through Lee's official channels.
The album is scheduled to drop on September 15, a date that holds special significance to the singer and his fans, as it just so happens to be Lee's birthday. Lee addressed this on his Twitter, where he promises fans an album "so deeply personal that it could only be released on an equally personal day."
Lee's comments, combined with a teaser image that hinted at an ethereal and romantic concept, have spurred a wave of fan speculations. Ten-Minute Interview: Writing Love Letters With Felix Lee

Nearly seven years ago, Felix Yongbok Lee broke onto the music scene as a fresh face with a deep voice. He has since dominated in the world of feel-good pop, but with time comes maturity and growth, and he is now more than ready to open a new chapter in his musicality with an album full of love songs.
Q: In the days following Love Letters' release, how are you feeling now that it's out and people are getting to see you in a more personal light?
Lee: Relief, for the most part. There was a lot of nervousness leading up to its release, which is understandable considering how close this album is to me. I've also been loving how my fans are connecting with the songs; there's a lot of joy in knowing your music can bring positive emotions to others.
Q: Love Letters is an album that sounds and feels markedly different from your previous releases. Can you shed some light on why you have chosen to go in this new direction?
Lee: This album has been a long time coming. In another world, Love Letters would have been released in place of [2024's] Flawless, but I think this was the right time. This shift was never part of my business plan, but when I look at where I am now, as a person and an artist, releasing the album now makes sense.
Q: What was the intention in naming the album Love Letters?
Lee: I find that letters, especially love letters, are extremely personal in nature. You have to put thought and deliberate purpose into writing a letter, and it's time you spend on someone even when they're not physically there. They carry a piece of you with them, and when it's a love letter, it's a piece of your heart. I wanted to put a piece of mine out there.
Q: You've collaborated with kkot's frontman, Hwang Hyunjin, for the very first time. What was the experience like?
Lee: First time, yes, but it's a collaboration that has spanned years. In fact, some songs on Love Letters were written as early as 2023. I love working with him. He is a very inspirational artist; he sees things in a way most don't, and he has a way with words that even the most accomplished songwriters out there would envy. This album wouldn't be what it is without him, in more ways than one.
Q: "Dear You" as the title track – what inspired the song?
Lee: "Dear You" tells the story of someone falling for someone else, and at some point during that process, they figure out their feelings are reciprocated. It's [meant to be] a fun, lighthearted song as they try and navigate around confessing when a confession isn't needed.
Q: What was the concept behind the music video?
Lee: When we started planning, I knew I wanted it to be filmed outside of a studio. There were several locations we considered, but since it was a love song, it made sense to go straight to the City of Love. We filmed on a single camera with a small team, and I just did whatever I wanted to do. I did whatever felt right.
Q: There have been speculations regarding the recipient of all those love letters in the music video. Is that person simply part of the storyline or is there more to their identity?
Lee: Ah, that three-second shot of the mysterious hand at the end? [Laughs.] Wouldn't everyone like to know!
Q: What do you hope fans take away from Love Letters as a whole?
Lee: The thing about love songs is that they will never have the same impact on two people. We all experience love differently, so what I truly hope for is that my music will help fans feel understood.

Concert Review: Love Letters Day One

Sold out and highly anticipated, the first night of Felix's "Love Letters" World Tour unfolded in many unexpected ways.
Before the show started, fans were already blown away by the stage design. With a blue and white themed stage, the former being Felix's favourite colour, the whole Dome felt like a giant snow globe. But what really caught everyone's attention was the massive quill pen hovering above the stage, its white tip dripping with black ink.
The moment the lights dimmed for Act 1 and fans screamed their throats raw in welcome, Felix took to the stage and wasted no time in delivering a banger of an opener with a remix of "Glossy", a B-side from Flawless that is arguably his biggest song to date. Dressed like the pop star he is in top-to-toe leather, a shimmering white to match his stage, he pointed a finger up at the sky and got his fans to scream his name.
The first act was pure adrenaline, with most of the setlist up to this point consisting of his greatest hits. Fans sang and danced along, the glowing lights from their lightsticks moving as one. This was the Felix that fans expected, the explosive singer who is known for tearing up every stage he's ever been on, and this continues straight into Act II.
This act focused on songs from older albums that Felix has either never performed before, or has only performed once or twice. He has spoken in various interviews about finding it important to perform all of his released songs live, because all songs, not just the ones that have made it big, deserve a moment in the spotlight. He has always made it a point to practice what he preached, and it seems like this tour is no different.
Then the stage lights dimmed, and as Felix stepped off for a quick outfit change, fans watched in awe as the hovering quill pen found its partner in a scroll of parchment that descended from the ceiling.
The scroll, boasting a simple message of love and gratitude, was signed off in Felix's signature.
It signalled the start of Act III, which is undoubtedly the Love Letters arc. Felix opened with "Dear You" and performed his way through most of the album, gifting fans with brand new choreography – developed with long-time friend and collaborator Lee Minho – and stage effects that matched this Act's softer vibe.
R&B soloist Kim Seungmin joined Felix halfway through the act for "Hourglass", one of the rare ballads in Felix's discography. As they sang, the screens around the arena played the track's then-unreleased music video, accompanied by a slow drift of fake snow.
Act III closed on a personal note, with Felix standing as close to his fans as possible and taking the time to address them directly. He shared that while the Love Letters album was written over a long period of time, the decision to compile each song into an album and releasing it was very intentional. The decision itself was immensely important to him, something he says fans will understand the significance of sooner than they think.
The night closed with an encore that blended old memories with new ones. A remixed version of "Conqueror", his first ever chart-topping hit, an a cappella version of "Dear You" performed on a throne made of daisies, and a disco version of crowd favourite "Funhouse" rounded out the show.
If the first night of the "Love Letters" tour is any indication, fans all around the world will be in for a show to remember.
After three shows in Seoul, the "Love Letters" tour will head to Singapore on January 10, followed by 15 shows across 9 different cities in Asia. Other legs of the tour have yet to be announced.

Everyone knows Felix has a penchant for slipping surprises into his concert performances, but no one would have seen this particular surprise coming. What started as a heartfelt closing speech on the last day of his Seoul concerts turned into an unexpected confession that set the internet on fire.
When the encore stage ended, fans thought Felix would bid them goodbye in a few happy sentences, likely with a promise that he'd see them again soon. Except he didn't, and instead made his way back to the middle of the stage, looking out at the crowd until they quieted.
Clips of what happened next have already garnered millions of views online. Hashtags are trending and fans are freaking out – understandably so, considering the fact that Felix did not beat around the bush when he announced his long-term relationship with none other than Hwang Hyunjin, the frontman of rock band kkot.
The arena erupted, rightfully so, and amidst all the noise, Hyunjin himself appeared on stage. Standing together hand-in-hand, they revealed that their relationship started at the end of 2022, and that after a long discussion about their desires to be honest with themselves and with their fans, they have decided to share their relationship publicly on this stage.
Felix explained that Love Letters was their way of testing the waters. It was a very intentional album, with every song reflecting an aspect of their relationship. He said that after all these years, they owed it to themselves to commemorate what they've been through and what they've built together, and since music was the reason they met, Love Letters made perfect sense.
Hyunjin was quiet for the most part, happy to let Felix address the crowd. But when he did speak, he thanked their family and friends for their constant support, and expressed hope that this risk they have chosen to take will be met with understanding and acceptance.
The cherry atop the sundae: to wrap up their confession, they performed an acoustic version of "Bubblegum" together. Guitar in hand, Hyunjin told the crowd and everyone else watching on the livestream that he'd penned the song about Felix, proving a popular fan theory right.
They sang together, with nothing but each other's voices and a guitar, and when the song concluded, they sank into a deep, long bow before exiting the stage. The fans cheered until the house lights came on.
What they have done is unprecedented – two male artists coming out in a romantic relationship together, much less artists of their calibre and on a stage as big as this one. Hyunjin and Felix will be setting a precedent, whether they intended to or not, and it all comes down to the reactions of the general public.
Only time can tell, but they have, without a doubt, claimed this night for themselves.

Hyunjin & Felix: The Art of Loving in Secret

There is a softness to the way Hyunjin and Felix occupy the same space. A gravitational pull between them has them moving in the same rhythm, from the way they interact to how they hold themselves as individuals. They sit close together, knees touching, but each person in his own space.
In the fresh aftermath of their public revelation, they sit down with Glasshouse Magazine to talk about what it means to love each other in secret, in an industry that runs on exposure and in a society that tends to be unkind to couples of the same gender.
Their relationship unfolded in 2022, beginning just as the year was ending. Both describe it as something that was inevitable, a love at first sight situation they nursed for weeks after meeting for the first time at a Yves Saint Laurent event in Paris. There was never a verbal confession – for them, they just knew.
Keeping it private was the obvious choice. It was about protection and preservation, and they made the deliberate decision to grow something deeply personal far away from prying eyes and commentary. Secrecy did not equate to suffering, but it required an unforeseen amount of effort and discipline, and there were times it felt too overwhelming.
Unsurprisingly, songwriting became the musicians' escape for when things got tough, and Felix lauds Love Letters as their hard-earned result. The album, now widely regarded as his most emotionally open work to date, is a gift from themselves to themselves. He clarifies that while the album does not chronicle their relationship, it does represent the heart of it and what they mean to each other.
Hyunjin recalls presenting Felix with the first draft of "Dear You". To him, his partner's reaction to the song was the breaking point, the push he needed to propose the idea of a confessional album. The time felt right, to let their relationship take flight and leave the nest. Keeping it private forever would be stifling, and preventing it from growing could only be detrimental. Felix's agreement came as a surprise to Hyunjin, but little did he know, Felix wanted that release just as much as he did.
After years spent carefully cultivating a love unsullied by sharp eyes and even sharper tongues,
announcing their relationship to the public felt akin to announcing their biggest vulnerability. Friends and family warned them about the potential fallout, about the risks they're taking in regards to their careers, but they simply did not care.
What followed was an immediate cacophony of noise, the kind of attention that could break one's will if they weren't careful. The couple, however, simply chose to step away from the commotion and grounded themselves in what mattered most: their bond. They unplugged, taking the time to check in with each other before engaging with the outside world. Even then, they took baby steps, seeking out safe spaces before venturing further.
This new openness that they're willing to share with the public, however, does not mean exposure. Their relationship, Hyunjin says, is not a marketing technique nor a concept to be branded. It is living and breathing, and therefore deserving of boundaries. They are firm in their shared stance when it comes to commercialising their relationship – while they're not against working together when it comes to their music, Felix emphasises that any such future collaborations will only happen if and when they arise organically, not from outsider expectations.
The change that comes with getting to love in public is profound. There's a light in Felix's eyes when he says he's been freed of constant calculation, and Hyunjin thrives in knowing their relationship is acknowledged by the masses instead of existing in quiet secrecy. It won't be all sunshine and rainbows, of course, a fact they're well aware of. But it's a trade-off they're more than willing to accept, and regret is something that will never cross their minds.
As the conversation winds down and they prepare to leave, Felix turns to Hyunjin and smiles. Hyunjin, almost helplessly so, returns the smile, and sets a hand onto the small of Felix's back when they stand. They leave with a bow and word of thanks, footsteps light and in sync.
Looking at them serves as a reminder that even in a world filled with spotlights, there is power in choosing privacy, and equal power in choosing when to be loud.
