The world entered into a New Age due to the actions of Sukuna, who was later aided by the gods to spread and cement this New Age. Sukuna attained the status as a god due to his actions.
Due to the fact that he too was on the way of becoming a god, Yuuji needed to Bond with a god to achieve this faster and easier. Thus, he was set to marry the Greek God of the Underworld - Hades.
