Chapter Text

Parrot, Wemmbu, Spoke and Flamefrags, four brothers that used to be inseparable, would watch movies almost every night, argue over the stupidest things, cherished each other more than they would let on. Neither of them had spoken in months, each one of them forging their own path and starting their journey without the other three by their side. They interacted occasionally, Parrot and Spoke well.. spoke sometimes, (haha, spoke spoke, get it?) Wemmbu and Flame had this ‘rivalry’ or whatever they had going on, but nothing ever compared to how they used to be.

Spoke was laying down on the sofa, a bowl of mac’n’cheese discarded on the coffee table and a movie playing in the background in his base when the idea came to his busy mind. He reached outward, picking his communicator from the coffee table, opening coms and scrolled into he found their group chat, the one where it had been dead and dry for months, if not a year by now. “Unstable bros..” He whispered the name as if it were a prayer, he hadn’t even thought of that group chat in awhile.. he checked when the last message was, the screen read that it was over a year ago.

Spoke felt a pang of sadness in his chest, he missed the moments where he would constantly annoy his siblings, when noise constantly filled the house. He had an idea, a stupid one? Maybe, but he had done much stupid things in the past, he tapped the camera icon, taking a quick picture, nothing crazy, nothing chaotic, just him watching a movie with a snack, and sent it to the group chat.

He must’ve been staring at that screen for hours, the movie had long since finished and his eyes felt droopy, no one replied, of course they didn’t, no one cared if their little brother was watching a movie, they used to do it all the time, it was nothing new.

The next day, Spoke tried again, today he was taking a walk around capital city, admiring the flower garden, he took another picture, sending it to the group chat once more, no replies, no comments, not even a ‘what are you doing?’ This went on for a week, each day, he would send a photo of whatever he was doing that day, exploring, relaxing, pranking other players. He never sent two, kept it strictly to one photo a day, never missed it, never sent a video or text. He no longer expected nor hoped for a response, the chat had become a small little photo collection of his adventures, that was until…

PING! The sound startled Spoke from his slumber, he rubbed his eyes, groaning. He checked his communicator, seeing a notification from their group chat, he opened it immediately, it was from Parrot, a photo. It was just a picture of a brewing stand with three deep pink potions brewing, Parrot wasn’t in the picture, didn’t attach a text or message, a silent response, he was well. Spoke replied with once again, another photo, him eating ice cream, the same flavour they argued over when they were kids. There was no reply.

Spoke still sent a photo everyday, Parrot wasn’t consistent, but it was getting more frequent, now actually showing himself in the photo, yet still, neither of them spoke. It was close to the one month mark of Spoke starting this when Flamefrags finally chimed in, a photo of his sharpening his sword, his face was cropped out, the main focus being on the sword, but a reply nonetheless. Spoke smiled, a true, warm-hearted smile, one he hadn’t shown in weeks. He was starting to have faith again, maybe they could be a happy family.

The next day, a notification from Wemmbu pinged the group chat, like every other message for the past month, it was a photo, he was in the end, he was sitting on an end pillar with a half smile and you see MinuteTech talking to a random player in the background, barely visible. Spoke snickered, of course Wemmbu replies as soon as Flame does, probably to spite him.

A few days pass, Spoke and Parrot send photos daily, Wemmbu tries to (highlight the word ‘try’) send photos daily, some coming in a few minutes before midnight, does this guy even sleep? Flame gives updates every now and then. This time, Flame sends a video instead of a photo, there was no words spoken, it was just him cleaning his horse’s hooves, it was boring and not interesting whatsoever, or at least that was what Spoke thought of it, but it was progress. Spoke was about to put down his communicator when he got another notification, it was Parrot, and it wasn’ta photo.. nor was it a video.

Spoke stared at his screen, in complete disbelief, he was about to type a reply out until he saw the three little dots pop up, signalling a person typing, it was Wemmbu
