The End (of the World)

Summary:

based off the end of the world by skeeter davis

Light Yagami, or, perse, "Kira's" plan is perfect. Everything is set in stone, and after L's finalized death, after Mello's, after Near's'. This plan of his schedules his ruling over the New World as God. Except.. he still has to deal with Amane. The terrible, agitating, high-pitched for-no-good blonde girl, who never stops talking his ear off. Luckily, someone is there to help him out. Someone he knows well enough that will listen to him, someone he knows he can kill off once he's done with him, perhaps. But that 'someone' isn't going to let that happen. No, he's not the same as Misa. He's not going to be eliminated like her, or like Takada, or like L, not like Mello or Near, either. He's better than that. He can prove it. Please, God.

mikami teru goes batshit and makes light realize someone else has crazier motives than his warped sense of a World.

Chapter Text

At last, everything is going smoothly. Light Yagami can calmly rest in the comfort of his own home, no worry about handcuffs, no annoying sound of those fingers constantly tapping on the keyboard of a rusty laptop every night, and no sweetly-disgusting smell of strawberry cake, or any desserts, for that matter. No N, no L, no M, no nothing.

He's won. Except.. there's still an irritating girl in his home who thinks the two are in love. Fortunately, Light can get away with this by escaping off, whether that be to college, to see his family (If he built the courage, after his fathers untimely death), or to see one of his.. other devoted followers. Teru Mikami. He's nothing like Takada, or Misa, no, he's different.

Anyway, right now, Light and his devotee stand above the men who were supposed to defeat them. Prove them wrong. Tell them that they are just "murderers", and that Light Yagami is not God. But God works in vicious ways. Ways you'd never expect.

Mikami stands about a foot away from Light, in current shock whilst Light watches Near, or Nate Rivers, cough and collapse onto the cold, now quiet ground. Ryuk chuckles a 'hyuk-hyuk' in surprise as he watches the two men finally communicate in words. "We've done it," Teru's strained, drawn-out voice speaks, breaking the sudden foggy-quiet atmosphere in the building. He notices that he doesn't get a reply, so he tries again. Looking, listening, for approval.
"We've done it, God, yes!" A bit louder, which still, for some reason, doesn't even make the suited brown-haired man bat an eye. Teru is beginning to become frustrated. Why won't God acknowledge him? He did this all, all of it, for him. For God. "No," What? A sort-of groan of confusion escapes Mikami's, once for, chapped lips. "Not yet, Mikami. That was the easy part. You did good, but..." Light pauses, taking a moment to walk over to the other suited man. "We'll still need to clean this up. And Misa.. she's going to be upset. I should--" He is interrupted by Teru's shout, "No!". They both pause.

Teru feels.. shocked at what he's done. Yelling. Yelling at.. at God. Oh, no, he would punish him, wouldn't he? He deserves it, anyway. "I-- I apologize, God. For interrupting you, for-- I'm sure you had something amazing to say, but, but.. Amane. I can get rid of her for you, *you* won't have to do anything. God, you.. should relax. You've worked so hard," Mikami's breath is practically coughed up in Light's face when he finishes speaking. "Mikami, you know that can't happen. You can't just kill her, and if you tried to convince her to do anything, it wouldn't work, because she only trusts me. Just like you." Teru swears he feels something split in his heart, or- or maybe his brain. Like him? Him and Amane? Alike? Ugh.. but.. he could not put down God for his opinions, or, facts, because God cannot be wrong. And God is always listening. *Kira* is listening. "Y.. Yes, God. I understand." Light brings his eyes to the other man, and Mikami immediately stares right back at him, as if he is following Gods every move. As if he can predict it, or if God can predict him himself. "Let's go, Mikami."

"We'll go on about our daily lives, as if we never met. You will go back to your job, and I will go back to college, whilst holding a 'relationship' with Misa. You will still have the Death Note, and you will take care of criminals when I am not able to do so myself. And how would you know that, you might ask?" Mikami raises a brow.

"Well.. I'll have the *occasional* visit to you. Maybe, once every two months. We'll see."

Uh--mmh, God, what?.."
