This is ridiculous.
The animal ruffled his feather, puffier than a Silkie hen. He bobbed his head around, cooing.
Of course it couldn’t never be a plain, regular pigeon. It had to be one of those ungodly one. Could he even fly ? Merlin was pretty sure than not even the goddess herself could predict such outcome.
The pigeon flapped his wings at his feet and indeed, they could not even lift his feet from the ground. Merlin watched it exhausting himself, he tried to jump, wings spread wide and bottom on the floor but it quite literally fell flat.
Merlin took pity of the wool ball and brought him to face, the animal, finally where he wanted to be, basically melted happily in his hand.
Merlin thought about his neighbor, a man harder than a rock who grumbled more than he spoke and his dutiful soulanimal, a dog that could barely called one as she was more fluff than dog, always following him. His needy wife and her gigantic lizard were never far. She was an annoying woman, always demanding her husband to do everything. He groaned.
"My soulmate is a prat, isn’t it ?"
The pigeon purred. His golden feathers vibrating while his head slowly disappeared into his body.
"Gerard ! Gerard ? There you are ! Where were you ?!" Her voice came through the thin wall.
Gerard’s answer was a grumble as always.
She was an annoying woman. Always demanding, always complaining.
"I’m there, love" His voice was lighter, lighter than with anyone else, one must be blind to not see how fond he was of her.
The pigeon kept purring, cooing as he ruffled his pretty feathers.
"I guess I can live with that" and he tucked him safely in his arm, a smile on his lips.
