worry translated into comfort

Summary:

Dan Heng's firm clutch on the slumbering trailblazer was an attempt to remedy past events he recalls out of sudden fear, the stack of uneasy memories surrounding losing those closest to him because of Amphoreus almost weakens the strength of his arms wrapped around him.

Work Text:

Dan Heng relaxed his adjacently tall frame to Caelus within the trailblazer's large mattress sat upon a complimentary frame that made up his bed. Snuggling with a relaxed face that copied Caelus's satisfactory sleep within Dan Heng's warm embrace. Upon moving his line of sight lower to the resting Caelus, his faced morphed to a satisfied smile as his eyelids evidentially showed signs of fatigue.

"Mm..." Caelus's asleep state in the astral express brought him true comfort as Dan Heng's embrace satisfied his longing for the express's familiar soft bed within his room. The little noise brought Dan Heng a sense of relief which he wished to identify after a while.

However, Dan Heng could eerily recall those events that basked sorrow ensnared memories. The details of the scenery upon their unlucky arriving, the scars that latched onto him as the knowledge of Caelus's disappearance, the continuous rot of time in the timeframe that took him to find him. His grasp on the sleeping trailblazer felt weak, the senses to his arms nullifying slowly.

Even within the reassuring confine of Caelus's own room alongside him being ensnared softly within Dan Heng's embrace, Dan Heng still unwillingly recalls the memory repeatedly with agonisingly accurate detailing, the rubble of the stone building becoming a crumbling foundation for the broken train car, and the horrifying sight of the Trailblazer's unconscious body nestled near the scattered stone. The almost perpetual stream of blood around Caelus that forced Dan Heng into sudden grief.

"No how is this possible..? Breathe... Breathe.. Caelus... Caelus..!" Dan Heng's shaky voice mirrored his distressed feelings as his eyesight panned on Caelus's practically lifeless body that laid against the existing rubble. He rejected any existing idea that viewed Caelus as deceased. Maybe it was delusion, or it was hope, he just wanted to believe that the sight in front of him was temporary and eventually Caelus could weakly regain his senses.

...

That day was etched as an outlier to the more lively memories Dan Heng regarding Caelus, he wished he could rid himself of such emotionally constricting memories starting from that day.

 ...

That memory wasn't an end to the flurry of burden inducing memories that have mentally consumed Dan Heng greatly, he recalled again. His encounter with Evernight brought him worry masqueraded with anger, he hated the sight of seeing the familiar figure of the express's March 7th tainted with Evernight's full influence alongside the conversation that occurred, it still haunts him.

"What was the last thing Caelus said to you before you parted the waters at the Scalegorge Waterscape? A tricky question, but one with a simple answer." He could recall the mood that felt twisted with both a form of hate against the strings freely controlling March 7th paired with the unnecessary commentary.

"He didn't say anything back then, right?" Evernight's rhetorical question was shed an answer by herself, slightly giving into the attempt to taunt Dan Heng and muddle his current emotions. Dan Heng can still feel the pang of slight rage intermixed with sudden confirmation, as information March 7th shouldn't have knowledge of had been leaked, as he was fully confident somebody was controlling her. He still despises every second of that moment.

...

Dan Heng now also recounted his pursuit for Caelus which was outstretched tremendously in time, yet he couldn't care about the details of time spent. Even when his hope was at its lowest peak, his dedication to find Caelus was provided with a satisfactory ending, a beautiful one at most, as he finally gripped Caelus's wrist to rescue him from the memoria tide. As Dan Heng's grip on Caelus's wrist tightened from rescuing him from the memoria tide's grasp, he basked in the sight of his beloved trailblazer looking up in awe at the earth coreflame's effects at his increased height. Dan Heng and Caelus's feelings of joy and relief imitated each other as their eyes were fixed upon each other to represent their current emotions.

"Finally... I've found you..." The emotional value in those words were critical, the first words within an awaited reunion. Caelus was in genuine awe at both Dan Heng's second transformation and his pure dedication for him, they both could feel a rampant urge to embrace, yet they both stood still to capture the current moment comparable to a fresh of breath air amongst the huge amounts of torment that have happened.

...

At the recollection of these fleeted memories, he feels relief adjacently similar to another moment that he treasures deeply amongst the treacherous minefield of negative memories that occurred in Amphoreus.

...

Dan Heng's mind felt at peace as he could recall the sight of Aedes Elysiae's peaceful atmosphere, as he drew in the sight of Evernight perched on the dock with Caelus, they were flexibly back on guard.

"Get ready. We can't give her another chance." He remembered the firmness shelled with caution in his words. Caelus followed with an agreeing nod, as they both steeled themselves.

"Three pair..."

"Two pair...

"Ace..." The air in that moment felt as if it got thicker, he could remember the caution overriding almost their whole personality as they knrew the threat and power Evernight wielded within bet.

"Ace..?" Evernight's voice almost seemed soft, almost comparable perfect lure to drag the duo closer by utilising March's voice, but now a moment in Dan Heng's scrolling through memories finally gave him a sense of odd relief. He could perfectly mentally visualise the past moment Dan Heng and Caelus could familiarly recognise the little light that illuminated Evernight's eyes which were a stark contrast to red iris she had. Finally, it was a confirmation March 7th's body was back to belonging to March 7th respectively. He could perfectly remember the happiness he felt as the trio finally embraced warmly together after the compiling of horrible memories and events that dragged them away from each other.

...

Dan Heng's eyelids widened, snapping back to the more relaxed reality perched him. Seeing Caelus ensconced within his arms peacefully, alongside the journey of Amphoreus finally being completed, he let out a small smile to the more comforting scenario in front of him. Eventually, he was driven to sleep. Dan Heng's chin resting above Caelus's head peacefully.
