Summary
After high school, Will is ready to get the hell out of Hawkins, Indiana. He and Mike have agreed to stay best friends, swearing that his confession won't change anything between them. And Will actually believes that that's possible to achieve, if he can just get enough time away from Mike to actually, truthfully get over him. It's a perfect idea, really. Will will spend several months away in New York; knowing Mike, he probably won't call, and they'll only see each other on breaks. Plus, Will will be surrounded by new people, surely he'll find a guy (even if he just looks for Mike in every guy he meets), and he'll get over it. They'll be best friends again.
This plan is wrecked however when Mike reveals that he's received a scholarship offer, and that the two will be going to the same school. Now Will is cursed to see Mike everywhere he goes. He dives into his art, gets a boyfriend, and tries to push Mike away. But soon, the lines between friend and lover blur, as do the lines between right and wrong. And Will starts to wonder if he's really 'getting over Mike' or if he's actually getting everything he's ever wanted.
