[Podfic] The Long Road Begins at Home

Oh sure, reunion results in happiness, kittens, and rainbows, because that's definitely how life goes when you've just spent 70 years as a tool of villainy. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Notes:

Inspired by The Long Road Begins at Home by owlet

So in an attempt to recover my chill after the last Very Serious Project, and going on the theory that there's probably at least one other person out there who'd like to be able to listen to these, and in light of the fact that the whole dealio is at current count almost 100K, imma gonna do something wild and crazy and purely for fun, and post this chapter by chapter, pretty much as recorded, with (almost) no editing, agonizing, fussing, etc. I'll keep going as long as my interest holds and life allows.
I've listened to Dusty Soul's recording of the first story in this series approximately 1 billion times, so hearing this in my own voice is kind of weird. Lemme know if you like. Input, positive or negative, always welcome, preferably sometime before, yanno, the next 80K words. ;)

I'm not sure which chapter I should leave this comment on, because it's kind of a whole-work thing, but ... given the whole "I think we were trained by some of the same people" bit? It seems very fitting that Natasha's voice has a lot in common with Bucky's voice sometimes.

I'm loving this. I listen to a couple audiobooks a week and I'm listening to a fairly boring one right now so I'm happy every time one of your chapters is released and I can leave the boring one and switch to this :).
In case you're curious, I'm listening to Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld right now. It's supposed to be a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. (I'm aware of the irony that I'm listening to Pride and Prejudice fanfiction and it isn't even great fanfiction.) Was Darcy such a dick in the original? I don't remember hating him as much as I do in this story. I'm about 1/3 done and it's going to take a lot to redeem him. It's not like anyone's forcing me to finish this but it's from the library so it was free and it's just something to listen to while I'm at work. After listening to Half of the History, I wanted something light.

  "Wanted something light" - yeah, I feel ya! 31 Chapters of light sounds about right to me! Well, except for the ones I'm doing right now...ack.
  It's been a Very Long Time since I read P&P, but I recall Darcy being more socially awkward emotionally repressed than actual jerk, but I could be mis-remembering! When my kids were small I spent innumerable hours listening to Anthony Trollope's stories - The Warden, etc., to keep my brain from expiring. Now THOSE suckers will eat up some serious time - Audible used to rent them on cassette and I remember one box had, like, 36 tapes in it! I really hope the pros who record that stuff get paid what they are worth.

        That's great. Actually one of the reasons I picked this story to record was that I like having a stash of reliable stuff that's just soothing to hear - no huge emotional overload, just a good solid story that gives a bit of a brain vacation when rl is getting rough!

  I am kinda on semi vacation right now, so don't be too impressed. Also, owlet's stuff is just really easy to read, so as long as I don't freak out about editing every little thing, it's pretty smooth sailing so far!
