Work Text:
Neil doesn't remember falling asleep but his eyelids feel heavy with exhaustion when he blinks them open and his neck feels like he's been hit with a racquet from the weird position he's been sleeping in.
There's a blanket sloppily thrown over him一over part of one leg to be specific一which he assumes was Nicky's doing.
The only light in the room is coming from the full moon peeking in through the window.
Neil groans as he rolls his shoulders, trying to ease the pain.
He nearly jumps out of his skin when he feels fingers pressing into his neck and immediately whips his head around, heart racing.
When he locks eyes with Andrew his heart rate speeds up even further for an entirely different reason.
Once his brain catches up he realizes that he hadn't used the couch as his pillow like he’d thought. Instead he'd been sleeping while leaning against Andrew's thigh.
“You should've woken me up,” Neil says.
He doesn't move away from Andrew.
Andrew doesn't pull his fingers away from Neil either.
“You should've set an alarm.”
“I didn't mean to一You know what. Whatever.”
Neil wonders how long he slept. The others must have moved the party somewhere else when he'd dozed off because the bottles have been cleared from the table and the TV has been turned off.
“Where is everyone?”
“They left.”
Neil tries and fails not to roll his eyes because No Shit.
He stares at Andrew, waiting for him to say something.
Andrew wordlessly starts back.
Neil briefly wonders why Andrew didn't leave with the others. He could have just kicked Neil off if he'd wanted to.
“Did you watch me sleep?”
Neil can't imagine Andrew actually watching him without getting bored.
“You talk in your sleep,” Andrew says and Neil tenses.
"I don't,” he says, sounding unsure even to his own ears. He’s pretty sure his mother would have told him, though. Matt definitely would have made fun of him already if he did talk in his sleep.
Andrew just tits his head, the tips of his fingers pressing harder into Neil's neck. Not hard enough to bruise, just so Neil can really feel them. It feels almost magical.
He watches as Andrew leans forward, follows his movement with his eyes until he realizes what he's doing.
“Yes or一”
“Yes, Andrew. Yes,” he says and closes his eyes in anticipation.
Their position makes the kiss somewhat clumsy. It reminds Neil of the upside down kiss in Spiderman only a whole lot more awkward.
Regardless, Neil enjoys the warm press of Andrew's lips against his own.
He doesn't know how long they are kissing, whether it's a minute, an hour or forever, just that it's not long enough, it never is.
A noise from the other room makes the two of them pull back, pupils blown wide as they are catching their breaths.
“You said they left,” Neil says, breathlessly.
Andrew leans back, pulls his hand with him and Neil already misses the warmth of his fingers on his skin.
“I said they left. I didn't specify how far they went.”
Neil opens his mouth to reply but is interrupted by the door opening.
A disheveled looking Kevin steps into the room, still dressed in the clothes he'd been wearing earlier which means he probably hadn't slept yet and instead had watched Exy videos on his laptop.
He looks at Andrew and Neil for a moment, surprised.
“You're still here,” Kevin says.
“I was just about to go,” Neil replies, not moving.
Kevin just moves his hand in a I don't care motion as he walks past them towards the bathroom.
Neil watches the closed door for a moment longer before he looks up at Andrew again, hoping for a continuation of where they left off, even for just a little bit.
Andrew doesn't look at him when he says, “No.”
His fingers find Neil's neck again, this time to turn Neil's gaze away from himself.
“Okay,” is all Neil says, closing eyes as he concentrates on the lingering warmth on his skin, trying not to doze off again..
Andrew doesn't wake him this time either.
