"No, Abram. I endure. I set my boundaries, he ignores them, and I endure. I'm only here as long as she wants me. It's the price I pay."
"Andrew," Abram pleads, fisting his shorts. "Andrew, I need to—"
"You need to nothing," he says. "Cass is mine but she only keeps me because I follow her rules. If you ruin that for me, we— this—" he grabs Abram's jaw, his fingers cold with the un-tender way he forces eye contact, "—is nothing and will become nothing. This is my family."
