Madara narrated what he was doing as he carried his daughter on his hip through the house. His sons were peacefully taking their afternoon nap but Toma was still wide awake. He was not looking forward to his own sleepless nights if their sleeping schedules no longer lined up.
"Ma-ma-ma," Toma babbled back at him. The lively kicks of her feet gently tapped against his stomach and back.
Madara smiled and tickled her feet until she laughed and squealed. He could almost pretend she was trying to say his name. It felt more likely that she was trying to call him mama. Tobirama still used his name when talking directly to him but he had started using the word mama to refer to him when talking to the triplets.
Madara was gradually adjusting to the title. Despite his own unease it was ultimately the truth. Madara had carried and given birth to the triplets. It was even a little comforting that Tobirama was encouraging them to call him mama. It meant he probably wouldn't decide to separate them later on.
It was so easy to love them. They cried for him and smiled at him and brightened up his days no matter how exhausting they were. Madara could learn to love what they were taught to call him. He would not do anything that put distance between himself and his children.
