Chapter Text
Hanjin has been the epitome of an omega ever since he was a kid. He is not like an alpha in his ways of thinking. No possessive thoughts or the will to fight, he knows that not all alphas are like that. Dohoon is an example of that, him not being like a “normal alpha”. But Hanjin knows that he will be an omega.
He had always sat to the side while the other kids playfought. Preferring to sit and read a book. He was calm and collected. His mom made sure to tell him this on a regular basis. He had heard her whispers to the others in his past pack. The words he could make out among it being ‘Hanjin’ and ‘omega’
He has always liked that part of himself, the docile and cute part. His members agreed. Always calling him sweet and cute. They are amazing and Hanjin would be lying if he says that they do not make him blush. And in the chaos of his mind, a little bit of crushing on his friends isn’t a lot.
They didn’t make it easy for him either. With the way they took care of him, always looking, always asking if he was comfortable and helping him with his Korean. Even in the way they flirt with him and cuddle with him. But most of all he likes how they understand him, all of him.
And he doesn’t just like them when he has one on one time with them. He likes them in a group too. When they laugh and joke. When he can nearly grasp having a pack with all of them.
Even though he feels so much for the pack, even though he feels complete. He is missing something, something crucial. Something so, so important.
That pack will and is not going to be happening any time in the near future. For one he isn’t even sure they like him like that. Secondly, three out of the six of them have yet to present and thirdly, well…..
Hanjin is something the doctors called a “rare case”. He is a late presenter. So late that he needs to go to the doctor for regular check-ups. It has been a year now. A year since his 19th birthday. The weeks leading up and even the weeks after he had been hopeful of it happening, but it never did.
He knows there is not anything wrong with being a late presenter. He really tries to not let it get to him. He knows the other two unpresented understand him. Jihoon and Kyungmin will never really understand the pain.
They will not, because the pain of longing for his presentation since he was a child and having it float away from him. Floating down the stream, now so far away from him
Right now Hanjin is alone in his and Kyungmin’s room. He lets himself lay down on his back on the bed. His head has started to cloud up.
He starts crying and he cries until the only thing he can feel is his cheeks covered in tears. He is laying there on his bed, alone. Waiting for his breath to return to normal. He turns his body when he feels like he can move again, face-planting into his pillow. Finally when he feels good again the feelings spread and bring him down again. He wails, wails to let himself feel the emotions he has suppressed.
He just wants everything to go back to how it was before. When they first debuted he didn’t need to think about secondary genders. When it was totally normal that Hanjin hadn’t presented. Back when there were no stupid doctor check-ups. No stupid tears. Back when he felt like a totally normal person.
He just wants arms surrounding him, making him feel better. Hanjin really didn’t mind it being a pretty Omega with puppy-like features. His hazy mind is consumed by the thought. So when his mind cleared the only thing in it was cuddling up close to Youngjae and having him stroke through his hair and-
Well, Hanjin gets up from the bed with shaking legs. He opens the door to get out of his room and looks back to see his pillow drenched in tears. He walks out the door on a mission. His steps fast paced and his mind cleansed. The only thing he needs is to not be seen by any of the Alphas. He can not let them see one of “their pups” being sad. He wipes off the tears from his face at the thought.
He runs to Youngjae’s room, reaching for the handle off the door with his tear soaked sleeve. He opens the door and closes it before checking his surroundings. His feelings are still too embedded into his head. He is not bothered enough to care for who is in here.
Hanjin turns around expecting to only see Youngjae. He pauses back to the door. He meets Youngjae’s gaze. His mouth is opened wide. His eyes tell him that he shouldn’t have walked in. He looks to the right of Youngjae to see Shinyu, who is also staring at Hanjin.
They both look at him confused as Hanjin wipes his eyes — that has somehow become hazy with tears again. Hanjin takes a closer look to see that they are cuddled up in something Hanjin can only describe as a nest. A perfect and neat nest that is so utterly Youngjae that Hanjin starts doubting himself. Hanjin wants to be an Omega like Youngjae. He does not know if he can, in the future, become that of an omega so quiet in his calm aura.
Right, he shall probably tune into reality, away from his overthinking thoughts and realize that he is just standing there watching two of his bandmates as they cuddle in one of said bandmate’s nests…
He should probably leave.
He does not stand there quiet for more than a millisecond after the conclusion. Blurting out the first thing that comes to mind. “I’m sor-” Hanjin gets cut off as he says it.
“What are you doing just standing there, baby?” Shinyu questions, his gaze filled with worry and something else. Hanjin’s heart skips a beat at the nickname, his already sweaty hands producing more liquid. Shinyu continues, “Come join us!” He adds in an exaggerated movement with his hands. Beckoning Hanjin to move forward.
Hanjin stands still, his back still facing the door and his body frozen. “I’m s-sorry, what?” He says, the only thing he can come up with at the moment.
“Come join us!” Youngjae whispers out and as if he is a snake whisperer and Hanjin is the snake, the younger walks forward.
He goes to sit down on the far side of the nest away from the two presented. He didn’t even get a chance to lay down before Shinyu put his hands on his waist, manhandling him to lay in between the Alpha and the Omega.
He feels so warm and cozy. An arm sneaks over him and wraps around his midriff. He knows there and then that it won’t be long before he is under. The last thing smells is the vague scent of vanilla perfume and a wood-like scent. The two which Hanjin thinks in his last moments awake are such an odd but perfect match. Blending together into a thick and calming mixture.
