Summary
It was strange, the way Tóth spoke to her; unlike the other nuns who barely gave her a second glance, Tóth seemed to pay attention to every vowel that dripped from her lips. It was wrong. The woman had helped to kill her family, she had watched as men under her command slit the throats of innocent lives and held a stoic expression all the while. She should not have compassion for Erika, and Erika should not have compassion for her. But between them there was an understanding, a string that tied them together and hummed with an indescribable energy.
Tóth is both a destroyer and a saviour—was she not then, akin to God?
