They're settled against the side of a village house, legs crossed. Nestled onto their lap, purring happily, is a small gray and white cat. The hand that didn't gesture is occupied with scratching behind the ears of a calico cat nestled by their side.

There's a sudden, jarring noise. The world warps blue and sharp for a few seconds.

Assimilation hesitates, looking away from them for a few long moments. They pick up that unsteady swaying again.
