Work Text:
It was colder out today, and Alex was on with it.
They had the weighted blanket Cass got them for their birthday, a mug of tea, a couple cookies on a plate, soft music and a book, perfect for a cold day.
Jason had left for work, Percy was sitting in the arm chair, laptop open as he was typing something, and Alex was reading their book.
Alex loved their new life with Percy and Jay. They loved how Percy or Jay would bake cookies and other treats every Sunday, enough to last the week, and somehow they wouldn’t go bad the entire week.
They loved how they got to help baking, and they had never realized before, but how much it calmed them to bake.
They also felt comfortable.
With other foster families, they would sometimes use the wrong pronouns for Alex, and no matter how many times they tried to correct them, they were told that the parents knew best.
But Percy and Jay didn’t use the wrong pronouns for once.
Percy offered to help Alex get control of their abilities, telling them it was nothing to be ashamed of, and it made the unique.
When Alex was younger, unique was bad, it meant it hurt more, but now? Now they could express themselves however they wanted, and if they went too far with their abilities, Percy could help get them back.
Alex loved getting to know how to sign, though there were difficulties with learning it, Alex was getting pretty good, and if there was a sign they were confused on, they would ask. Percy and Jay would always answer their questions.
Between all the different families that Alex had been with, Percy and Jay were definitely their favourite, and were glad they could stay with them.
