"Fuck," Kelly growled as the gauze wrapped around her leg was ripped off. "Just stick me in the machine and get it over with. I don't get why you insist on doing it this way."
The Nurse scoffed, inspecting the wound now free from the blood-soaked fabric. Shaking her head, she dodged the question. "Why do you insist on dying so much? Does it feel more honorable?"
Kelly winced as the Nurse's gloved hands touched her leg, not even the wound.
"Because it's easy," Kelly sighed, holding her breath for a moment as her lover inspected the wound more closely. It was surface-level, but fuck did it hurt. Some kind of acid, she assumed. "Takes less time, resources, besides, I'm used to it."
Kelly's shadow loomed over the Nurse, making it difficult to see the wound properly, though she too came to the conclusion of acid. Given that it burned at the touch and ate away at her gloves slowly.
She washed her hands after, grabbing a large syringe, originally meant for animals, but now used to treat soldiers who went up a size. Filled it with a wound cleaner and turned back to look at Kelly as she did.
"It's inhumane, don't you think?" Kelly perked up, tilting her head, face as expressionless as always. "Killing yourself to avoid healing like a normal person."
Kelly shrugged, "It's simply modern technology. It works, so I make use of it."
"Even for a gash on your leg that'll heal in a couple of days?" The Nurse turned back to Kelly, slowly dripping the clear solution over the wound.
"Yeah," Kelly scoffed, "Like I won't be dead before that."
The Nurse rolled her eyes, ever annoyed by her lover's mentality.
"Fine. I'll prescribe you something for the pain and then send you on your way." Kelly snarled as a dressing was put on the wound and fresh white gauze was wrapped around it, keeping it in place. "You know, I like taking care of you."
Kelly retracted her leg and stretched her foot, uncomfortable and sore. "You can't keep me here."
"I know," The Nurse swayed a bit before leaning her side into Kelly's large frame. "That's why i like it. Gives me time to see you alive."
Kelly's head leaned against her side, and a large arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer. "Eva?"
The Nurse hummed in response, tilting her head so she could see Kelly better, looking up at her now. Arm still around her waist.
"I'll try to stay alive a little longer," She smiled as best as she could, and the Nurse bent down, kissing her softly on a spot usually covered by her helmet. "No promises, however."
Kelly let out a soft laugh as the Nurse nudged her non-injured leg in response. She walked to her desk, throwing Kelly a half-filled bottle of painkillers with her own name on it.
"Now shoo, there are more people requesting check-ups,"
