Chapter Text

“Stop! Kacchan, I won't let you hurt him!”

The boy closed his eyes, and clenched his fists maneuvering them in front of his face. A determined, yet fearful expression was worn.

'Kacchan' as the little green haired boy called him, opened his fists, revealing the little sparkling explosions that rested within his palms.

“What are you gonna do, Deku?” he sneered.

The boy- ‘Deku’ simply pulled his fists together, overlapping over his face, in a poor excuse for a battle stance.

“I'm gonna beat you up!” He yelled.

The other boy laughed, as did his croonies, who followed close behind him. A menacing echo of the explosive boy.

“And how do you plan to do that? You're weak, useless Duku.” he tilted his head mockingly.

“Why do you even want to protect him?” Asked one of the young shadows.

“Yeah, aren't you supposed to be evil or something?” The other- who had wings, said in confusion.

'Deku' smiled, it was wide, wobbly, and determined. “Of course! But Kacchan's supposed to be a hero! He can't beat people up!!” He screamed.

“Thats my job!”

The others laughed. The boy was quirkless, he was weak. And yet he had already chosen a career for the future that would only serve to get him killed.

The forth boy- the one who was hiding behind ’Deku’ piped up “does that mean you're going to beat me up after..?” He asked nervously.

“Of course!” The green haired boy said all too cheerfully. “Thats what my dad would do, and he's the coolest in all the universe!” He said with stars in his eyes.

“Izuku-chan…” the boy said, tears pricking in the corners of his eyes.

“I don't like your dad…” he said, tears spilling.

Izuku, looked taken aback, doubt clouding his eyes for a moment.

“Riri-chan…” izuku too began to cry.

'kacchan' frowned. “Yeah! You're dad sucks deku!”

This seemed to bother midoriya. “No he doesn't! Hes so cool!! You know what he told me yesterday?” He asked through tears. “He told me that he even beat all might once!”

Now it was ’Kacchan's’ turn to look mad. “No way, no can beat All might!”

The winged boy from before piped up “yeah your dads a lier!”

“Is not!” izuku screamed.

“Is too!” The boy said smugly.

“I don't wanna be friends with you anymore!” izuku screamed. “Lets go riri-chan.” The green haired boy dragged the other away, both still crying.

10 years later…

“Okasan, I'm home!” Izuku called happily from the entrance to their small apartment.

“Izuku!” His mother cried, she sounded extra happy today. This brought a smile to Izuku's face, it wasn't often he got to see his mother so cheerful.

Izuku's mother captured him in a tight embrace.

“Izuku, i have great news!” She smiled.

“Oh, what is it?” He mirrored her joy.

“Izuku, dear, your application yo UA got accepted!” If izuku didn't know her so well he would've thought it to be impossible how wide her smile stretched.

Izuku on the other hand let his smile fall, he felt the stinging of betrayal begin to surface within his heart.

“Okasan, i dont want want to go to UA…” he frowned.

Inko, to her credit, looked slightly ashamed.

“I know, izuku, but this will be good for you!” She sighed, "since your father's gone, i thought it might be time to start looking into a new dream… maybe something a little more… stable.”

“Okasannnnn” Izuku wined. “Villainy is plenty stable!"

“Thats what your Otosan thought, and look where it got him.”

“He's not dead okasan.” Izuku bit, letting the tiniest bit of warning seep into his voice.

“...right” she said.

“Anyways! I explained your special circumstances to the principal, and he agreed to have an interview with you tomorrow morning.”

“Tomorrow morning?!” Izuku shouted.

Inko sighed, "I know how much you like… school, dear, but im sure you can miss one day.” She let the sarcasm seep into her tone.

Izuku began to cry.

“Sorry, sorry Okasan-” he mumbled as he wiped his eyes. “Its just- character building, you know? Thats what Otosan always said…”

Inko looked sympathetic. “I know what he said, but I also know that he only said that to make you feel better. And it can't be good for your psyche.”

“Okasannnn” he cried again.

Later…

“So, Midoriya-san, what brings you to UA?” Principal Nedzu chirped.

Izuku sulked into the incredibly comfortable chair.

Izuku's mother answered for him. “Like we talked on the phone, Izuku here, wants to be a villain… i think a more heroic influence could be good for him…”

“I see.” The principal stated.

“Midoriya, you want to be a villain? May i ask why?” The principal asked.

Izuku, still sulking, perked up. “Because villainy is so cool!”

The principal smiled. “Any other reason?”

Izuku looked away, he tapped his fingers together sheepishly. “Well, I'm not sure if i should talk about it.. but Otosan was a really great villain, and he's so cool! He saved so many people!” He beamed.

“...and i want to be like that… saving people of all backgrounds… regardless of their status, or fame… plus i want to be the ultimate antagonist to Kacchan!” He finished with a bright smile.

“So that's why you shouldn't accept me, I'm definitely not a hero! And I'm super un-heroic!”

“I see.” The principal bowed his head.

“Alright, midoriya-san, you're accepted.”

Inko sighed in relief.

“What!?” Midoriya yelled. “But- but im evil!”

“Yes midoriya-san, that's precisely why.”

Izuku blinked, “you're accepting me because im evil?”

“Yes midoriya-san, UA is in dire need of diversity.”

Midoriya's jaw fell to the floor, he looked like he had eaten a ghost, and it tasted very bad.

“I… I'm a diversity hire???” he whispered in pure confusion.

“Yes, midoriya-san.”

“O-oh…”

Later, alone….

“Nedzu-san, thank you so much, I'm sure this will help my son… thank you, really.”

Nedzu put his paw up, silencing inko. “It isn't a bother Midoriya-san, really. What sort of educator, or hero would i be, if I didn't help struggling youth.”

Inko sighed in relief, “he's such a kind boy, if only I hadn't let his father be such a large influence in his life at such a young age…”

“Dont blame yourself Midoriya-san, you couldn't have known that this would happen.”

Inko looked away guiltily.

“I just wish I had better judgement…”
