The stares were nothing new to Mizuki.
The judging, the whispers, all the false rumors.
She was used to it.
That didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt though.
Every time someone looked her way, gave her a strange glance, made a weird comment, Mizuki felt like she was burning.
Those poisonous thorns piercing through her once again.
They made her feel sick.
But she just smiled, played stupid, like nothing was happening. Played along with their stupid jokes.
And of course, these comments and cruel games only worsened when she began dating a certain Shinonome Ena.
Both of them were pained, of course. They only wanted to be themselves, after all. Why did people make it so difficult?
They loved each other so dearly. More than anything.
Ena only danced with her, entangling their hands.
“We’ll find a way through this, Mizuki.” she said.
The same routine.
Those stares, those words filled with venom. All of it was so sickening.
It repeated day after day.
Mizuki, frankly, was tired of it.
And Ena was as well.
Ena wasn’t tired of Mizuki, though. She never could be. She was simply tired of people not allowing her and Mizuki to be themselves.
They weren’t hurting anyone. They were just loving each other. Like anyone else. What was so wrong with that?
“What a cruel world…” Mizuki muttered.
No matter what, they would never understand.
Everyone with a stupid, garbage point of view wouldn’t get it.
Everyone else just had to be right. They always had to have the final say, didn’t they? It was infuriating.
Such idiots. They were so stupid! Why couldn’t they understand?
You should both just end it while you have the chance.
All these hateful, disgusting comments. Insisting they don’t deserve happiness.
Mizuki was exhausted.
One day, they had both come to a silent agreement.
There was no discussion. They both just knew.
Their meeting place.
They knew what they had to do. It was the only way. It was their final destination.
They really had no choice, right? There was no promise of a future for… people like them.
They went up those steps, hand in hand, with little to no hesitation, but not without tears.
And of course, the moment they stepped up there.
Camera flashes, applause, cheers, laughter.
That disgusting laughter that sounded of nails on a chalkboard.
“Serves you right!” They’d say.
Ena scoffed.
Mizuki only looked at her and nodded.
A shared kiss in their final moments, tears flowing.
They embraced each other as the pavement came closer in their view.
Mizuki smiled bittersweetly.
“Ah… the scenery from upside down is so…”
