Work Text:

"Oh please don't tell me your thinking of running back to them of all people?"

Cosmos did not look up, did not even flinch at the appearance of this dark reflection of himself; the mad little god was currently perched on his counterpart's desk like an oversized house cat. He was not looking at Cosmos, well not directly at least. No, his attention was focussed on the small device in Cosmos hands that the little former Astral had been holding onto all this time. A device he had not even thought to hand back to Moon after he had been fired for saving Solar from the Overseer.

His dimensional transporter.

"I mean lets ignore for a moment that they would atomise you the second you step through the portal" the madman chuckled darkly at the thought "But, say for a moment at least, that you could plead your case to get your powers back.... what would you have to give up this time ?" Cosmos was silent, eyes never leaving the device " I mean you sacrificed your freedom for a so called higher purpose and became nothing more than a glorified executioner" Cosmos twitched a bit but, still did not look up; his mind still locked on the memory of Sun's outburst after Atlas's death.

How it was again his fault.

Titan let out an annoyed sigh "Typical, they'd blame you for the bad weather if they could" he was on his feet, marching up to Cosmos; his approach rousing his counterpart. "It was my choice" he finally spoke, tired and wary; hand still holding onto the device but, not exactly protecting it. Titan chuckled "No, no it wasn't, not really" he tapped at his head " Remember Cosmos, I've had a peak in your head so I know what happened" he conjured a flaming image in his hand.

An angry looking Sun chewing out Cosmos after Jack had run off.

"Sun sticking that metaphorical knife between your ribs was all it took to make you crack in the end" the image was destroyed with a hand wave "And, before you say anything, yes he did apologise but it was a pretty pathetic one if I'm honest" Cosmos frowned "What was Sun supposed to do against the Creator.... against someone like Rez?" the mad god cackled as if Cosmos had told a very good joke "Oh nothing against Rez, hell Solar could have taken the worm's offer if he was stupid enough and made himself a puppet but, Sun.... well he took care of Nexus easily enough" Cosmos gritted his teeth "Shut up!" he was not going to let this freak mock Sun over that.

Titan pursed his lips in a mock smile "Oh, yes my bad, Sun's fire is strong but, not strong enough to keep one of Rez's pets down for long I guess" he waved a hand "Still it would have been enough time for your so called family to cage the gremlin and figure out what to do next" he regarded Cosmos cruelly "But, did they? Did anyone stop and think about that?" he giggled before Cosmos could answer "Nope, at the end of the day everyone was thinking about themselves and scurrying away like rats off a sinking ship and leaving you to drown" he drifted around Cosmos " At the end of the day the only one thinking about this family is you" another giggle "And, look where it leaves you every time you do" another chuckle "They have everything and you're here wallowing with nothing but a fake cheery smile on your face".

It was hard to tell if he was being mocked but, Cosmos glum mood would not let him defend himself.

"It... everything with the Astrals was my fault... its always my fault" now Titan did stop, the smile dropping somewhat in his eyes despite the mad grin "You know I always hated that fucking piece of code" he was now inches from Cosmos "Cosmos do you honestly think every mistake, every wrong choice this family makes is your fault?" there was something almost sincere in his voice "I..." he swallowed, uncertain if this was a trick or not "You were not even an idea in Eclipse's thick skull when Moon made the Star" he circled again "The Astrals were likely to busy being boring to notice Eclipse messing with the Star" he paused at a framed photo of Jack "And, annoying though he is that little Gremlin at least had the courage to do what this family would not for one of their own" he smirked "And his brain was more like a dog's than a person back then".

He turned.

"Point being you really should see to getting that code yanked out of your head, might make you a bit more interesting" Cosmos shivered " What, like you?" Titan chuckled "You practically are me Cosmos" he looked him up and down "Lack of power, confidence and an annoying conscience you are me" the tone was less a taunt and more of a statement of fact. "We were both lab rats at the end of the day" Cosmos raised an eye "Eclipse never..." the doppelganger chuckled darkly, tone becoming sing song "I wasn't talking about Eclipse" his eyes turned back to the device on the bed " How grateful do you really think the family will be if you jumped back into that cage and let the Astrals do who knows what to you hmm?" he floated up to leave.

"Point being don't be an idiot and stick your head back in the fire for people who wont notice or care at the end of the day" and with that he was gone.
