Summary:

Furina ponders whether she loved Focalors back.

Notes:

prompt: Any, any, "Do I want her, or do I just want love instead?"

Work Text:

"You truly believe she loved you?"

"It was one of the only things she ever told me." Furina twists a lock of her hair with a finger and raises it up, staring past it. "And I suppose... I don't know if I ever truly loved her back, nor did I really get the chance to know before... well.

"Sometimes it was nice, to imagine—to know that she was always there at the end of the day, waiting for me... and I thought, maybe if she kissed me, well—" Furina lets out a self-deprecating giggle. "That would have been nice. And I wouldn't mind."

Hesitantly, Neuvillette shifts closer on the couch they're sitting on and Furina huffs, turning to press her back into his side. She doesn't want to see the endless pity in his eyes, the sorrow thick and heavy in every motion she's caused with her words—he asked, and she's just answering.

"Then again, maybe that was all part of her grand plan, too." Furina sighs, closes her eyes. Lets her head fall back onto his shoulder; in a dream-memory, this would be where Focalors pulled her close and never let go. "She didn't even say goodbye."
