Ice Skating

Summary:

Eri goes ice skating :)

Work Text:

“Ice skating?” Eri questioned.

“Yeah! It’s a lot of fun! I was thinking of inviting everyone who was part of your rescue, and we could all have fun together!” Mirio smiled. The day before, he’d been talking to Aizawa about how Eri needed some more fun experiences, and there was an ice rink nearby. Aizawa approved, but only if he was there to supervise.

Mirio was now trying to convince Eri. She was still a little scared of trying new things and seemed unsure about this.

“Don’t worry! I’ll teach you,” Mirio encouraged.  “I’ll even hold your hands so you don’t fall!”

Eri ended up agreeing, so that Saturday, a trip for ice skating was planned. Mirio invited all the students who were part of Eri’s rescue mission at her request.

So Tamaki, Nejire, Kirishima, Tsu, Uraraka, and Midoriya were there, along with Aizawa, who planned to ‘supervise’ (and by that, he meant nap in his sleeping bag on the bleachers and was only to be woken up in the case of an emergency).

Somehow, Aizawa had booked out the whole place for an hour, saying something about not wanting Eri to get overwhelmed by a bunch of strangers. None of the students questioned it.

Mirio helped Eri put her ice skates on before putting his on. Tamaki, Nejire, Uraraka, and Midoriya were also putting on skates. Tsu chose to just watch from the bleachers, and Kirishima decided to join her.

Mirio started by skating backwards a little bit into the rink, before reaching his hands out for Eri to grab. The girl nervously grabbed on and slid onto the ice.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let you fall!” Mirio said right as Midoriya fell flat on his face.

“Deku, are you okay?” Uraraka skated over to him.

“Yep, I’m good,” Midoriya answered as he shakingly got up, nearly falling over the second he was up.

Uraraka caught him this time. “How about we do what Mirio and Eri are doing and hold hands so you won’t be covered in bruises by the time we’re done.”

Midoriya blushed profusely as he grabbed onto Uraraka’s hands.

“Why is Deku’s face all red?” Eri asked Mirio.

“If I had to guess, he has a crush on Uraraka,” Mirio replied.

“What’s a crush?” Eri questioned.

“Well, you know how Tamaki and Nejire are together romantically?” He let go of one of Eri’s hands to gesture to his friends, who were getting used to their skates.

Eri nodded.

“Well, a crush is basically liking someone romantically! Crushes can cause people to blush or stutter, as Midoriya does around Uraraka!”

“Doesn’t Uraraka blush and stutter around Deku, too?”

“True. Maybe they both have crushes on each other like Tamaki and Nejire did before getting together!”

“Deku’s floating.”

Mirio looked to see that Midoriya was indeed floating above the ice. He was still holding Uraraka’s hands, which was the only thing keeping him from going up to the ceiling.

“You okay, Tama?” In the other direction, Nejire was skating up to her boyfriend, who had just fallen on his face in a similar manner to what Midoriya did earlier.

“I’m fine… I’ll get up in a second,” Tamaki muttered.

While chaos was happening on their side, Eri and Mirio continued skating. Now and then, Mirio would let go, allowing Eri to skate short distances on her own.

By the end of the day, Eri could skate across the rink without Mirio’s help for balance and had taught Deku how to stay balanced as well.

After their skating adventure, they all got dinner at a local diner.

“That was so fun!” Eri exclaimed on the way back to UA.

“It was pretty fun to watch you all figure out how to skate, ribbet,” Tsu commented.

“I may have to try sometime!” Kirishima decided. “It was fun to watch! Although maybe Uraraka should wear gloves next time so Midoriya doesn’t float away.”

Uraraka’s face reddened. “Usually I can control my quirk better…”

“It’s fine, Uraraka! Floating was kind of fun after the initial shock!” Midoriya told her.

Those two definitely like each other, Mirio mentally decided.

“Well, maybe we can do more activities like this!” Mirio suggested. “There are so many things Eri’s never gotten to try!”

Eri nodded in agreement.
