Beautiful

Summary:

Kirishima takes Mina on a trip, where he finally pops the question :)

Notes:

Probably could have been better. Also, I'm planning to write a Nejitama proposal that'd take place before even the Kamijiro one in my main AU, so there was a slight reference to Tamaki proposing. Just so no one's confused if they've just gone through my whole main AU.

Anyway hope you enjoy :)

Work Text:

“We have a week off! What should we do?” Mina questioned.

“I’ve actually been planning a surprise trip,” Eijiro answered.

“Ooo, a surprise? What is it?” Mina asked.

“If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore,” Eijiro reminded her.

Mina was buzzing with excitement and curiosity. Wherever Eijiro was taking her, it was going to be cold. And there’d be tons of snowy hills if his packing skis told her anything.

“Kyoka, Eijiro won’t tell me what this trip is. I think it’ll be snowy, though.”

“Guess you’ll know tomorrow. Don’t worry about it, I’m sure you two will have a lot of fun,” Kyoka’s tone was slightly different than it usually was, almost like…

“Why do I feel like you know something I don’t?” Mina questioned.

“Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. I’ll tell you if I knew anything after the trip is over, ‘kay?”

Kyoka definitely knew something she didn’t. “Okay…”

The next day, Eijiro got her up early, and they boarded a plane to Fairbanks, Alaska, USA. Mina and Eijiro’s seats were next to each other for the whole 16-hour flight.

Eijiro took her to a ski resort with a hotel, and they flopped in the hotel room for the rest of that day.

They spent the first couple of days getting used to the time zone, which was quite different from their usual one. They skied so many times that their legs were sore from going back up the hills so many times. (which, they’re pretty in shape, so that’s saying something). Then they’d snuggle up in the hotel room, wrapped in blankets and sipping on hot cocoa as they watched a movie together.

Gosh, Kirishima hoped to have movie nights like this forever, no matter where they go.

It was the last day of the trip that he’d put his plan into motion. He was nervous to say the least, but he was determined. If Tamaki and Denki could propose, then so could he!

It was finally the morning of the day he planned to propose. The trip was going by so fast, which certainly didn’t help his nerves.

He took Mina out to breakfast, and the two did some sightseeing around the city. They went out for lunch too, and for dinner. Eijiro got more and more nervous throughout the day, which Mina took notice of.

“Are you okay? You seem nervous today,” She inquired while Eijiro was leading her up one of the hills.

“Don’t worry about it,” Eijiro told her with a smile.

By the time they reached their destination, the northern lights were dancing above their heads, stretching far across the starlit sky. It was…

“Beautiful.” Mina took the word straight out of her boyfriend’s mouth. But he wasn’t looking at the lights anymore. He was watching how his girlfriend’s eyes lit up at the colors, the smile that spread across her face.

It was time. He had to do it now. He’d planned this, and it was the perfect moment.

He took Mina’s hands and turned her towards him. “Mina, there’s something I came up here to do. So just listen to me for a bit, okay?”

“I don’t know why I wouldn’t listen to you,” Mina teased, getting a small laugh out of the man.

“Yeah, you’ve always been a pretty good listener to me. Mina, I truly love you more than anything. I can’t imagine ever loving anyone else, and sometimes I feel like you’re too good for me. Falling in love with you is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I don’t ever want that love to fade. I want to be with you forever.” Kirishima slowly lowered himself onto one knee, which was getting soaked from the snow. He let go of one of Mina’s hands, pulling out the small velvet box and opening it. “So, Mina Ashido, will you let me by your side forever, and marry me?”

Mina’s eyes were filled with tears, but she had the biggest smile. “Yes! Yes, yes, yes!” She tackled her boyfriend—no, fiancé—with a hug, nearly knocking him over.

Eijiro gently placed the ring on her finger before she pulled him in for a kiss.

She couldn’t think of any moment in her life that was more beautiful than this.
