Work Text:
Melody sat on the gentle carpet of Sandy’s room. The warm sunlight softly tickled her and her surroundings. The space seemed like two parallel universes. Sandy shared a room with his sister, Sindy, and Sindy’s side was really neat. So neat it was almost impressive. Sandy’s side was.. Okay. It was a tad bit messy, slightly crowded shelves with collections that seemed like they took years to gather, miscellaneous objects under his bed. Melody wasn’t a big fan of the area. She wished she could pick up a vacuum and just fix everything up, but she figured it wasn’t too big of a deal. It was Sandy’s sanctuary anyway, not hers.
Sandy had finished rummaging through a random pile in his closet, he merrily pulled out a light purple, glimmering hairclip with a big smile on his face. He sat in front of Melody to present it to her.
“Here! I found the star clip. You remember? The one you gave me before you got adopted?” He had a wide grin on his face. He gently handed her the clip. She inspected it, then smiled as she noticed the note she snuck in there three years ago was removed. That's what mattered to her the most. Not a cheap hairclip, but the desire of wanting Sandy to understand her love for him.
“You can keep it if you want.” Sandy muttered. “Since we’re finally back together, I don’t really think I need it anymore.”
Melody hesitated for a moment, then handed it back. “No, I want you to keep it.” She replied. “I don’t really trust myself to keep it and not lose it.” She let out a soft giggle.
Melody looked up at Sandy and continued. “But, I trust you to keep it.” Melody softly smiled. “I.. trust you with every bit of my life.”
