Chapter Text

It came to me in pieces at first. Growing up in Mystic Falls I was normal. Sure living in a small town where everyone knows everyone can get a bit old; especially when your parents divorced when you were born, but I was used to it. My mom raised me and we were fine without him. One day when I was meeting with the other founders family’s children suddenly the memories that had seemed fragmented and foggy became crystal clear. I look from Jeremy Gilbert who is six months older than me and is currently fourteen to his older sister who is talking to the older teens who (other than Vicki Donovan) range from sixteen to seventeen . I am thirteen… and I have what? A few months before this TV show starts? Why did the memories not watch the entire show? I just know some random stuff and now I’m expected to do what? There was no Ara Salvatore in the show so I’m basically going in blind. Well worst comes to worse convince mom we should run away.

“Ara?” Jeremy asks concerned. I suppose I have been quiet for longer than usual.

“Yes?” I responded softly as though I hadn’t just had my twelve years of life become an existential crisis of epic proportions.

“Are you doing ok? You look a little pale?” The youngest Gilbert says and the older teens who are like our collective older siblings take notice.

“Jere’s right Ara are you feeling alright?” Elena Gilbert, Jeremy’s older sister and apparently a doppelgänger whatever that means says with similar concern.

“I’m fine thank you for asking,” I say before adding honestly, “just a migraine.”

“Another one?” Matt Donovan states his voice tinged with worry.

“I don’t want to encourage the baby to take drugs but isn’t there something you can take to get rid of it?” Vicki interjected from her corner. The oldest had long since stated she is too cool to get involved with us little kids. From where I’m standing Matt her younger brother is more responsible than she is but that’s just my opinion.

“Vicki—” Caroline Forbes and oh I can’t let her die she is like a sister to me.

“Actually there is a tea that I read about online that’s supposed to help maybe I should try it,” I say a plot forming in my mind. “Would you try it with me?” I ask them innocently knowing that none of them could ever possibly say no to me and I smile when they all agree. Now when the vampires came we’d be ready.
