Margaret held him tighter, and Kip felt the last remnants of his strength drain away. The struggle between loving Scott and loving himself had worn him out. “Well, the advice your grandmother gave me, back when your father and I were on and off…” Margaret said softly, tucking her son’s curls behind his ear. “When two people are meant to find each other, the universe itself puts them in each other’s path by chance. If it’s meant to happen, it will—just pay attention, but don’t wait with expectations.”
