--

Aka yet another RotS fix it because this film breaks me every time.

(My first step in the Star Wars fandom!)

Notes:

Hi Star Wars fandom!!

It is my very first (and very long-due) attempt at fanwork in this fandom. I apologize for possible incoherence, I only know Star Wars's universe from the prequel and main trilogy.

RotS is so frustrating yet so beautiful, every time I watch it I feel like I should write a fix it, to sooth the pain. So here it is!
It is short and un-beta-ed but I hope you'll like it! :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Lava was boiling around them when he felt it.

A huge perturbation in the Force. Like two strong yet so small voices trying to scream, to cover another one. More tragically familiar, this one.

Obi Wan's heart froze.

"Padmé."

A burning fire line crossed his arm. He met Anakin's eyes.

Eyes no longer yellow, but brown. Wide opened in fear. Anakin's face twisted by anger.

"No!!! It's a trick! One of your jedi trick!! It's not suppose to happen like this! Not here! Not now!"

Obi-Wan jumped out of the way of Anakin's attack. His own light saber already turned off, back to his belt. There were more pressing matter.

"It is no trick, Ani! You can feel it too!! She needs us-"

Anakin's glaze turned dark. Possessive. Dangerous. Obi-Wan stopped in his track. Holding both his hands out.

"You. She needs you Anakin. Please."

A scream tore through the Force. Pain. So much pain. Obi-Wan knees nearly gave out at the impact. Anakin went stiff.

"Kriffin Hell. No. No!!!"

He jumped out from the small debris floating in lava, to the nearby black sand beach. The voices in the Force were screaming louder and louder each second.

In echo, Anakin let out a painful scream of agony, his head in his hands.

Obi-Wan landed on the dark crunching sand, next to him. It took him a few seconds to locate where they were.

"The ship is this way. C-3PO and R2 are with her. Quick!"

Anakin gave him a suspicious look, eyebrows frown in a mix of pain and anger.

"I can feel her. I can feel... them."

Obi Wan nodded. Anakin force jumped to the nearest pole of a destroyed machine. Obi Wan followed him, hurrying up as a new scream tore through the Force.

They force jumped through Mustafar for what felt like ages. By the time the ship appeared behind the rest of the main mining building, the screams in the Force were so loud Obi-Wan thought his metaphysical eardrums would break. Three voices. Equally terrified and in pain.

They landed before the ship.

Everything stopped.

Obi-Wan's heart sank in his chest.

It wasn't possible. They were here! It was going to be okay. It had too!

A rock exploded on his left. Followed by another one. He turned to Anakin, but the Jedi was already running up to the ship.

They arrived at the same time.

Padmé was lying on the table. Eyes closed. Unconscious? Obi-Wan didn't dare to reach out to her through the Force. Anakin rushed to her side, palming her cheeks.

"Padmé? Love? Do you hear me? I'm here! I'm here okay? Padmé?"

His voice cracked. So did Obi-Wan's heart.

A beep snapped him back to reality.

R2! The tiny robot was nudging his leg, trying to get his attention. Obi-Wan gaze rose from the blue robot to the other droid. C-3PO was standing there, a very panicked look on his face.

And two tiny bundle of white sheets in his arms.

Obi-Wan nearly tripped as he rushed to the droid. Peaking out of the sheets were two pink confused faces.

Twins. The twin voices calling out through the Force.

Obi-Wan met their curious gaze and wrapped them in a warm soothing feeling through the Force. They giggled happily, Obi-Wan heart felt so big he could burst out.

"Padmé!!"

Anakin's cry pierced through Obi-Wan peaceful bubble. He turned out and almost fainted as he crossed an exhausted brown glaze.

Padmé gave him a tired small smile, and let out a long breath. Anakin put down his forehead against hers. Obi-Wan politely turned back to the babies as he spotted some tears spilling from his former padawan's eyes.

***

Four years later, somewhere in Nabu

"And that's how you two came to life! Through fire and flame on Mustafar, you appeared like the twin suns of Tatooine. Shining with light and joy."

Luke's tiny nose was scrunched up. His usual disappointed face.

"So you never finished your fight with Daddy?"

Obi-Wan chuckled.

"No, indeed. And it is for the best. Some fights are better left unfinished."

"I'm sure you say that because you know Daddy would have beaten you! He's the strongest Jedi in the entire Universe!"

Obi-Wan smiled and met Anakin's amused look across the room. The younger Jedi knight crossed his arms on his chest, and opened his mouth. No doubt for a witty reply - but his daughter beat him to it, climbing up proudly on Obi-Wan's laps.

"No, Luke, you idiot! Uncle Obi is the best Jedi in the universe!! He always beats Dad in training!"

Anakin raised an eyebrow. Obi-Wan shook his head. He would not play this game. Anakin smirked, and reached out to his old friend through their Force bound.

Afraid to lose, master?

Ani, if we let the kids unattended to fight again, Padmé will skin us alive.

Anakin seemed to consider the seriousness of the threat.

Obi-Wan smirked.

Besides, what's the point? You know I always have the higher ground.

Notes:
