Summary
“Mike dropped to one knee out of instinct, just as they had taught him at camp.
He bowed his head, one arm folded behind him, the other held out in front. “Sir Michael of Mirkwood, Paladin of—”
A giggle cut him off.
He lifted his head smiling at the beautifully soft sound coming from the smaller boy. Sweet, bright and utterly innocent, it made his chest tighten in a way he didn’t expect.
“Well— I mean— soon to be,” he said, smiling and straightening up. “You can call me Mike—for now.” He stretched out his hand grinning.
When the boy finally peeked up, he was still giggling, revealing a grin that seemed to glow with the sun itself. “William the Wise of Elderwood… but you can just call me Will.” His smile widened, warm and mischievous. “For now.”
Or the one where young cleric Will lives alone in an enchanted forest and paladin-in-training Mike struggles to live up to his father’s name. Yet both are drawn to the same field whenever life feels too heavy, spending childhood chasing sunlight through the grass. That is until duty and reality pull them apart. However, when dark magic returns to the kingdom, they must find each other again and save the kingdom, or all could be lost.
