"I’m Gee.” She held her hand out to the woman, who accepted the handshake promptly and firmly. The strange woman’s hands were warm and callused. Gee gulped.
The woman was smirking again, Gee swore it. She was probably trying not to laugh at what a weirdo this strange girl in front of her was. “I’m Frankie,” she said, and thank god Gee could put a name to the face. It suited her somehow. “Your dad hired me to renovate some of the structures around the property. I’ll be staying here for a while to get it all done.” Frankie leaned to the side nonchalantly, looking at Gee as if she was studying her. Gee felt self-conscious in her patched-up dress and threadbare cardigan, but when Frankie’s words caught up to her, she forgot all about her self-criticism, jaw dropping without her permission. “You’re staying here?”
