Hua Lung lays in bed, tucked into a dark green blanket and cushioned by many white, now stained, pillows. His eyes are shut and brows furrowed as soup has been poured on his face. Carrots, cabbages, and broth are strewn about— on his face, hair, pillow, and blanket.
