Talking about the past

Summary:

Xiaotian asks Wukong something about the Six Eared Macaque.

Notes:

I wrote this separately from the rest of Blind Chaos, but it's still part of the AU. And rewrote it slightly.

I did write this before Macaque was fully introduced, but couldn't figure which chapter to squeeze it into. Just that it was written/takes place before tumblr Chapter 8/AO3 Chapter 10

Work Text:

Xiaotian was used to visiting Flower Fruit Mountain, but it was still strange to just sit in Monkey King's livingroom listening to an old cartoon supposedly retelling of Monkey Kings life. This one involving the Six Eared Macaque more than most other iterations.

Xiaotian had let his hair down from its braid, and had removed his glasses for more comfort. And because the Little Ones and Wukong were grooming his hair. It felt nice. He also had a Little One in his lap while Wukong coached Xiaotian in how to groom the monkeys, even if it was nearly impossible to actually see the bugs.

"Why don't more writers include more about The Six Eared Macaque? I know that he's kinda just a one off in the book, but there has to be more to the whole thing." Xiaotian asks and rambles while still grooming the Little One, "While most of the Yaoguai were after the Monk, the Macaque was after you specifically. What's the story?" He asked again.

Wukong was a bit uncomfortable with this question, so he didn't answer right away, "Well Bud, similar to this show, we did know eachother a long time ago, but we had a bad falling out when I was sealed under the Mountain." He starts to explain, he carefully moved some of Xiaotians hair to continue grooming, "It's both kinda complicated, and a bit simple. We let our emotions get the better of us, and at least he threatened to harm me emotionally since I can't really die that easily. There's more to it, but it's pretty personal."

Xiaotian thought it over, listening to the cartoon characters talking, "Did you have to kill him though?"

Wukong jolted almost sending the Little Ones flying, "I didn't, well the thing is... I didn't think he could die from the hit! I thought he had gained at least a couple layers of Immortality or gain some way of being unkillable like I did!" He shouts a bit angry and remorseful, "Plus I was sure I at least removed his name from the Book." Is said more quietly and sadly.

Xiaotian looks at his mentor, not sure what to do with this new information. So he lifted the Little One from his lap, "Okay, change of subject. How am I doing?"

This caught the Monkey King off guard, but he examined the Monkey, "Pretty good kid. Though I guess you're sight doesn't fully help with grooming."

"I'm just glad I can find things through touch since they look like Monkey Shaped balls of magic. With teeny tiny specks in their fur." Xiaotian chirps back.

They went back to grooming, and just let any talk of Liu er Mihou just cease until much, much later.
