Work Text:

My fluffy tail is wagging

“Hey Ghost! Look at it! Look LOOK!!! It’s wagging! An it’s wagging just for you! Pretty neat, huh eh, Ghost, huh huh???”

“Soap love, having a tail of my own and it wagging too… not as vigorously as yours though, does not mean it’s because I’m happy to see you.”

“Oh.”

The eager tail suddenly drooping, drooping more likely as were Soap’s ears. Total defeat felt in the moment!

Ghost then suddenly realising his faux pas, not meant to have been said out of anger but frustration, not even toward Soaps was making him feel awful. Totally sensing his canine partner’s disappointment and sorrow short from a woofed out howl!

“Look, love I’m sorry okay. I didn’t mean what I said just then. It’s not you… it’s just… a lot going on right now for me, personally. While trying to hide all them bones out there, keep the perimeter safe for all, the I lost my favourite ball…”

“Ya lost your ball? The red one? When?”

Soap immediately perking up only wanting to help Ghost, as it was the first he had heard of this, important red ball having been gone. So sad it was too!

“I… some time ago. Didn’t want to bother you with it though. It’s… just a ball after all.”

“Just a ball! No way!”

“Well…”

“I’ll help you look! Well find it, I promise you we will!”

Ghost could not help the smile on his snout forming, as of course Soap would help  him. He always did anything for his partner, Ghost.

“Sure love, we’ll look for the ball together, just like you said.”

Soap gave Ghost a long, lingering lick as a reward, getting one in turn as well.

The two soon out there, checking the perimeter, them both keeping things safe while looking for Ghost’s pretty red ball sorely missed.

Together.

Sharing in the search as they should have from start, it all being like good canine partners should have done. Always. Together.
