In your arms I’m safe
The sleep alluding for a while there, war, well, war being its perfect self, hell. The horrors endured troubling way past the mission done, never fun.
But when the night falls, or at least, the dream world beckons for a brief respite, then time itself stalls, your eyes find mine, they connect, safe, secure, it’s okay.
The gesture clear. The comfort of being near is what I hear, no words needed between us.
In your arms, a brief respite to be shared. Perhaps not completely without care, but for a moment at least, all of our horrid, insecure thoughts turned off. Silence ensues for a moment or two.
As in your arms I do feel safe. To have a brief time of this, much needed rest. Your heartbeat the only thing I need to hear to be able to fall into a dreamless slumber. Or at least, that is the hope, no thoughts, no nightmares. Simple silence.
Safe and secure in your arms.
A moment without care as our body heat we two share, for warmth, for care.
Simply us two in this short spell does exist, cuddled together in a loving embrace.
Until the next moment calls for us, to wake up, but until then, there is just, us.
