“Owww,” the padawan groaned, having closed her hand without thinking. She opened it up again and surveyed her fingers and palms, dismayed. They didn’t look much less red this morning than they had yesterday, still raw, hot, and painful to the touch.
It made making physical contact with anything difficult, so she leaned on the Force as she prepared herself and walked out of the room to join her Master in the shared accommodations they’d been provided on this planet.
Her master gave her a knowing look. “How are your hands this morning?”
“They… kinda hurt a bit,” she reluctantly admitted.
“And what have you learned from the consequences of your actions yesterday?”
“Wear gloves?” she suggested, though she knew that wasn’t the answer her master was looking for. It was a good idea, for the future.
Her master just raised her eyebrow.
“Uh… be more cognizant of different species’ capabilities and that a locally famous climbing and obstacle course may not have been designed with the limitations of human skin in mind?”
“Padawan.”
She had to admit defeat. “…when your master offers you a bacta patch, don’t say ‘No, I’m fine, it’s not that bad’ when it actually is.”
