“Jecka, you have got to keep your wrist straight,” Megan taps her foot anxiously, leaning against the wall. “If you bend it like that much more, you’re gonna twist it.”
Jecka sighs as she crouches to put her hands over her knees, wiping the sweat from her face. “My wrist is straight. It’s my elbow that’s bent.”
“No, I’m talking about your left jab. You’re angling it wrong.”

She spins around.
Dark hair. A blue cutoff crop top, and long black shorts. Blue eyes.
Jecka’s throat dries.
“Nicole?”
“Jecka?”
Megan yells at her from the corner, while Emily’s head snaps to Nicole, who’s frozen beside her on the concrete floor.
“Jecka, what’s the problem?”
“Nicole! Get your shit together!” Emily yells through her teeth.
The brunette shoves her water bottle against Emily’s chest as she jumps up to the platform, stepping in between the ropes. She moves with purpose, but she still shifts her feet when she makes it across from Jecka in the ring.
“Hey, Jecka.”
The br-rr-rring of the bell echoes through the gym.
