Devil May Cry, 20XX. The store had been closed for a short while, not because of a lack of money but because of the raging storm going on. It looked like there was a hurricane going on out there, but nope. It was just the worst rain Redgrave had seen in a long while.
Vergil sat on the decaying couch, it's once beautiful leather now looking more like a well done steak Nero would find on TikTok. For once, he was watching TV and not reading a book, it was some sappy RomCom. Akin to a hallmark movie.
He looked semi-invested, semi-bored. Vergil didn't care that much for such human luxuries like this, after all his only non demon non clothes possession is his book on William Blake and a library card.
Suddenly, right before the big kiss and happy ending, the TV turned off. "I was watching that." He was somewhat annoyed, and stared at Dante as he got the DVD player to work, "Check this out." Dante said, throwing the empty DVD case to Vergil before going back to popping the film in.
"...Devilman?" - "Yup, bought it at the store like forever ago. Forgot I even had it." He sat down onto the couch, nestled in on the spot across from Vergil. The film was one of few in his collection he hadn't watched, and probably the only unwatched DVD Dante could find in the entire shop, as most of them probably fell through the floor boards never to be seen again. Or, at least that was the fate of his copy of one of the Resident Evil movies.
Not like Dante cared, he didn't like it anyway.
And after about, I dunno, ten to twenty minutes had passed. Dante was still watching it, "Hey Vergil, doesn't he kinda look like our Devil Trigger?" He asked and pointed to the transformed Akira, "Dante, he looks nothing like us. He has wings and horns, that's it." - "Yeah but like, what if we weren't glowing wouldn't we look like that?" - "I highly doubt it."
Five more minutes passed, Vergil reluctantly had been watching it with Dante, the terrible English Dub drawing his attention from his book so many times he just stopped reading entirely, like most movies he was forced to watch with Dante that didn't end with him walking out a few minutes in.
"Dante." He looked at Vergil, "This film is terrible." - "Bahh, don't hate it just yet. It just started." - "Third minutes ago?" - "Mhm."
More time passed, they had gotten to the point where Akira's entire family had been killed. And Akira, or the dubbed voice of Akira, let out one flat scream of agony. One so barren and devoid Dante shed a tear, knowing he's been wasting his time on one of the worst films he'd ever seen.
The film was finished.
Dante and Vergil sat there, Vergil was blank faced and didn't care in the slightest on the quality of the film, but Dante had his head in his hands on the verge of tears. "What the hell was that?" He asked rhetorically, "That film was terrible!"
Vergil looked at Dante and held held his lips shut with a finger, "Not one more word." He hated Dante's long winded nerdy rants on the films they watch together, and he definitely wasn't gonna hear it after that abomination of a film.
Dante collapsed onto the floor, his back to the ground as he stared at the ceiling contemplating his life choices.
The other brother looked at him, "You're overreacting." He declared, getting off the couch and leaving the living room to go read his book.
