Work Text:
Katsuki was currently in the process of slapping his friend with his ruler. Although his friends failing their upcoming math exam didn’t impact his own grades, the prospect of failing as a good tutor fueled him with the need to have Shitty Hair and Dunce Face pass their next exam with flying colors.
“Bakugooooooo” Kaminari whined, currently clutching his notebook like a shield to ward off the attacks “give us a break already, we’ve been at this all morning.”
“Yeah Bakugo, it’s not manly to treat your friends like this!” Kirishima cried from under the table.
“You fucks don’t deserve a break! Who even thinks 5 x 7 is 40!?” Katsuki shouted, waving one of the worksheets with the incorrect answers back to back at the two morons before subsequently throwing it back at its owner.
“I can’t read,” Kaminari cried, crocodile tears streaming down his face “At least let me say my last prayers!”
“At least let me ask Mina out before I die.” Kirishima again wailed from under the table
“Dude, for real? You wanna ask Mina out?” Kaminari asked, pushing his seat back to look at the hidden red head under the desk.
Kirishima popped up from the table’s edge, like a groundhog surfacing from his burrow to take in his surroundings, eyebrows arched in question “Wait, bro I never told you? I wanted to--”
Before Katsuki had the chance to return to his original planned ass beating, several of his female classmates entered the common room at the same time. Seeing a potential distraction unfolding before his eyes, Kirishima quickly grabbed it.
“Hey guys!” Kirishima yelled, getting the girls’ attention, who were slowly making their way over. “Are you guys heading out?”
Mina nodded “Yeah! We finally got the last participant we needed to make the hero student blind date charity raffle to work!”
“The fuck is that?” Katsuki asked. Kaminari, seeing that his assailant was fully distracted, quickly ran to the kitchen for a snack before the explosive blonde could stop him.
“Yuuei is working with community groups to fund local afterschool programs for young children.” Momo explained, tucking a clipboard under her arm. “They’ve asked Yuuei to help with the fundraising efforts, both in terms of promoting and hosting events!”
“We wanted to do a charity raffle, with blind dates with hero students as winning prizes. Problem was we didn’t have enough people willing to participate!” a voice emanating from a floating set of clothes, likely Hagakure, shared “...well, enough people without Mineta anyway. We just needed one more person who signed up today!”
“Hah!? How come I didn’t know about this?” Katsuki asked, turning to his classmates.
“Why would we tell you? You would have never agreed to go on a date with some ‘random extra’ .” Jiro replied nonchalantly, twirling her earphone jack around her pointer finger as she made her way to plop down on a nearby sofa.
Katsuki grumbled something about Jiro being a know it all before sitting back down in his seat.
“It was more difficult than we thought it would be to find participants.” Tsu explained “More and more of our peers are already dating or more focused on their careers.”
“So then, who was the person you finally found to agree to the raffle?” Kaminari asked as he walked back into the common space with a plate of origiri in tow.
“Deku-kun agreed!” Uraraka exclaimed, fist pumping in victory.
“HAH!?” Katsuki shouted in reflex, feeling his cheeks warm in embarrassment as several of his classmates looked over due to his sudden outburst. Why does it matter if the shitnerd signed up for a blind date? That had nothing to do with him.
“Oh?” Kirishima let out, walking over the electric blonde to pluck a rice ball from Kaminari. “I’m surprised Midoriya agreed to do a blind date. Bro is sort of…”
“Easily startled? Nervous? Especially around girls?” Kaminari supplied, throwing a quick glare at Kirishima who tried to pick off his plate again.
Uraraka nodded in acknowledgement “Deku-kun can be a bit anxious, but he’s a great guy! He mentioned a few days ago wanting to put himself out there, so we convinced him that this would be a heroic way to give dating a shot!”
“And he does really well when he puts his mind to it!” Ashido chimed in “Like when I was teaching him our dance routine for the school festival.”
“Exactly!” Uraraka chimed in. “I think anyone who gets matched with him will be very lucky!”
The girls continued to explain the details of the blind date raffle project, all the planning, logistics, and how they had to get Aizawa-sensei involved when Mineta heard about their project. Katsuki felt all that information go in one ear and out the other as he withdrew further from the ongoing chatter. What Izuku chose to do in his social life had nothing to do with him. His involvement in heroics was one thing since they were rivals, but who Izuku chose to meet and potentially date had absolutely nothing to do with that. And yet, the more Katsuki thought about his childhood friend going on a date with some nobody, the more pissed off he felt himself become.
-----
Izuku quickly used the momentum from the last blast, spinning to add force to his kick in Katsuki’s direction. Katsuki froze in shock for a millisecond before rolling forward out of the way. Using the closed distance between them to his advantage, Izuku swung his outstretched left leg to pivot upon landing as he launched his right left forward to aim a hit at Katsuki’s midsection. Katsuki threw up his left forearm to block the hit, extending his free right hand to grab a hold of Izuku’s ankle and swinging him towards the ground, pressing his right knee to Izuku’s chest to hold him down.
Katsuki waited until the count of three before releasing Izuku, rolling off the other and collapsing on his back next to the green haired boy as he tried to catch his breath. The blonde raised his forearm to wipe the sweat off his brow as his breathing started to even out. Izuku sat up next to him, leaning over to reach for his water bottle while tossing Katsuki his. The blonde muttered thanks as the two took a break from their most recent match in the gym.
Placing the water bottle down on the waxed hardwood floorboards, Katsuki turned to look at his sparring opponent. “You’re too focused on building more power behind your kicks and not paying enough attention to keep your balance on your supporting leg. That’s why I was able to use your body weight against you and pin you down so fast.” Katsuki explained, folding his arms behind his head as a cushion against the hard floor surface.
Izuku’s eyebrows raised in surprise, considering his friend’s input as he reviewed their fight in his mind. “Ah…you’re right Kacchan. I’ll keep that in mind for the next round.”
Katsuki glanced over, cocking an eyebrow at the green haired boy. “The fuck is with you? You’ve been spacing out more and more with each round we go.”
He watched as Izuku appeared to jolt in place at the observation, his shoulders hunched up to his ears before drooping down as the other let out a sigh. “Ashido-san and the others talked me into signing up for the blind date raffle and…umm…I’m feeling not too sure about my decision.” He added, scratching his cheek with a finger in hesitation.
“Tch, if you don’t want to do it, just tell them that. Otherwise don’t be such a baby about it.”
Izuku smiled a bit to himself in a non-humorous way as he looked away. “Yeah, I…I guess I could do that..I don’t think anyone would want to go on a date with me anyway.”
Something about the way Izuku was being down on himself bothered Katsuki. Sure, he always told the nerd to keep his eyes on him as he worked his way up, seeking to surpass the other with no chance of him ever being able to catch up. Yet, the idea that Izuku saw himself as less rolled around his stomach like an unpleasant meal. Izuku seemingly shrink into himself was an uncomfortable sight. Izuku is a hero because he always rose to the challenge, whatever it was, no matter what anyone told him. That’s what made him special, what made him shine brighter than the sun itself, even when Katsuki couldn’t accept it a year ago. Katsuki started to open his mouth to say this much, but then paused. What exactly would he saying this mean for him? For Izuku? His observations felt more than just normal admiration. He didn’t want to vocalize his new thoughts, but he also didn’t want to stay silent as the others chose to trust Katsuki with his worries.
“You…”
Izuku turned to look at him.
“You…are…”
His childhood friend’s eyebrows furrowed with worry. “Kacchan? You okay? You look like you’re gonna be sick.”
Katsuki did feel ill, how the fuck do people say cheesy shit to each other casually?
“People can tolerate looking at you.” He finally supplied.
“Huh?”
“So you’ll probably be able to find a date.” Katsuki finished, taking a moment to digest what just came out of his mouth.
“...Oh…thanks Kacchan?” Izuku said, sounding more confused than anything.
That night, Katsuki appeared in front of Kirishima’s doors and asked if he could punch him in the face and knock some sense into him. His red headed friend was startled by the request and refused, so Katsuki settled for slamming his head into Kirishima’s room door instead.
-----
Katsuki realized that he needs to stop having study sessions with Kirishima because: first, the moron was not getting any better at math, or any subject he was taking for that matter; and secondly, the fuck kept attracting more and more extras, which made studying more like a group hangout, and he had a class rank to maintain.
“Will you two fucks shut up already!?” Katsuki spat at his friend and Ashido, who was hunched over Kirishima’s laptop, engrossed in something that clearly wasn’t arithmetic because he frankly, had never seen his best friend pay attention to math for longer than 15 minutes.
Ashido hmph-ed in irritation as she narrowed her eyes at the blonde. “Cut us some slack Bakugo! Momo just announced the matchups for the blind dates! Everyone who signed up was excited to see who they got matched up with, even people who didn't particip-- Hey!”
Katsuki simply grabbed the edge of Kirishima’s laptop, sliding it over to his side of the table to take a look himself. As Katsuki kept scrolling, he felt himself freeze once a particular face popped up on the screen.
“Bakugo? Are you okay? You look…” Kirishima started.
“Pissed,” Ashido stated, finishing for the other as she made her way to Katsuki’s side of the table, pushing the laptop screen back far enough so she could see the screen clearly without glare. “Oh!” She clapped her hands together in excitement. “You were looking at Midoriya’s matchup. He’s cute right?” She exclaimed as she spun around in glee.
“He looks like a dumb fuck.” Katsuki mumbled, meaning to sound uncaring, but came off as rather petulant.
“Ah c'mon bro, that’s not a nice thing to say about Midoriya.” Kirishima exclaimed.
“Actually,” Ashido cut in before Katsuki could respond, a suggestive look crossing her features. “I think Bakugo was talking about Midoriya’s date.” She explained, turning the laptop for the third time for the red head to see clearly.
Kirishima leaned forward, grabbing the edge of the screen, before a look of understanding crossed his face as well, pissing Katsuki off.
“What.” Katsuki asked, glancing between the two, a sense of annoyance growing as the two shared a mutual look of glee.
“Are…are you jealous?” The pink haired girl asked, attempting to hide a giggle behind her hand.
“The fuck would I be jealous of? The nerd’s date ain’t even good looking.” Katsuki replied quickly.
“Bro, he literally looks exactly like you except with silver hair.”
“What the fuck? You need to get your eyesight checked Shitty Hair. I look much better than that dumb extra.” Katsuki spat, throwing an accusing finger in Kirishima’s direction.
“I mean, he isn’t your long lost twin or anything.” Ashido began, examining the picture in greater detail. “You both have red eyes, he is also 5 '8 in height, I think the main difference is just that he actually looks friendly.”
“Fuck off! I can be nice.” Katsuki seethed.
“You can…you just don’t look it…” Ashido offered.
“You told Todoroki-kun to shove a hot pepper up his ass just because he said ‘hello’ to you.” Kirishima added in an unhelpful manner.
Katsuki threw his notebook at Kirishima, which bounced harmlessly off his hardened face and onto the floor.
“Whatever, whoever Izuku is going out with, there is no way he is as strong as me.” Katsuki stated in a haughty manner, crossing his arms across his chest, certain in his assumption.
“Actually…it looks like this guy is also a hero student! His profile says he is at the top of his class at Shiketsu with a fire type quirk. Makes a lot of sense! A guy into heroes and a strong quirk seems like the perfect match for Midoriya.” Ashido exclaimed.
Katsuki felt a vein bulge in his head.
“Ooo, it looks like he also does animal rescue work in his free time. What a catch!” Kirishima said, admiring the expanded biography tab on the page.
Ashido poked Kirishima in the arm lightly, nodding for him to look at their friend who was now grumbling angrily as he marched out of the common room, math books in tow. Kirishima merely shook his head in exasperation. What an oblivious guy he thought to himself, before realizing what this meant for him.
“What! Bakugo! I still need to pass our math exam tomorrow!” Kirishima shouted, scrambling to collect his notebooks before running after the blonde.
-----
Katsuki knows stalking is wrong. Contrary to what Kirishima and the other extras think, his parents did teach him proper manners which he did absorb into adulthood. He just likes to do whatever the fuck he wants most of the time and purposely chooses to ignore such customs.
After leaving his dumb friends alone in the common room, Katsuki decided to do some ‘research’ on Izuku’s upcoming date. Word of the blind date matchups started to garner more and more attention at the school, with other U.A. students gossiping about the match ups nonstop as between classes. Apparently getting a date with an up and coming hero was really exciting or whatever. Most matchups included a hero student and a civilian, which Katsuki assumed was to maximize the appeal of the blind date raffles to a wider demographic. There were a few exceptions, which made sense given that ultimately Yuuei wouldn’t want to limit participants for fundraising purposes, the matchup between Izuku and his date being one of them.
After a night prowling the internet, Katsuki learned that Izuku’s date, Ashura Netami, did in fact attend Shiketsu High as a hero course student. He was two years older than them, and seemed to enjoy doing rock climbing and judo. In addition to doing animal rescue work, he also does walks for cancer, beach cleanups to save Japan’s waters, and plays violin for hospitalized children.
In other words, not only was this ass wipe almost as attractive as Katsuki, he shat rainbows and flowers bloomed wherever he walked. Stupid birds probably sang whenever he walked into the room, and he was a hop, skip and a jump away from curing cancer! Woo! What a great guy! Katsuki mocked as he threw himself onto his bed, punching his pillow a few times before finally deciding to lay down on the abused bedding.
Katsuki rolled onto his back and he looked at the ceiling, turning to look at the sliver of night sky he could see between his balcony curtains. The more he dug into this guy, the more he couldn’t find any semblance of a reason to justify why this guy was a bad matchup for Izuku. His newfound reality seemed to grow heavier, like blocks of cement slowly crushing him as he sat with the thought, making it clearer to Katuski by the second that he was bothered by the idea of Izuku going on this date.
Apparently, all their classmates also thought Netami was the perfect match for Izuku.
“Midoriya! Hi!” Kendo greeted as she walked by the two on her way to lunch the next school day during their break. Tetsutetsu followed closely behind.
“Kendo-san! How have you been?” Izuku asked.
“Good! Quirk training has been going well. Tetsutetsu and I are just meeting for lunch now. Hey hey, word around here is that you got yourself a hot date eh?”
“Oh!...Right…” Izuku stammered, a deep red blush creeping up his neck as he looked around nervously “I-I…I mean Netami-kun is a very g-good looking guy..!” He admitted bashfully.
Tetsutetsu slapped Midoriya on the back “Great job Midoriya!”
“Ah yes!” Monoma interjected, randomly appearing and startling Izuku enough that he crashed backwards into Katsuki, who caught him and moved him to the side. “The plainest member of Class 1-A has gotten extra lucky and found himself an attractive date!” Monoma added in a sing-song voice before Kendo subsequently karate chopped the consciousness out of the blonde. Instead of dragging him away by the collar of his shirt like she usually did, Kendo let Monoma plop to the floor before returning her attention to Izuku and offering a kind smile.
“Don’t listen to him Midoriya, you’re a catch! And it doesn’t matter how attractive your date is, just focus on seeing if you guys get along well.” Kendo stated reassuringly as she excused herself.
Kendo and Tetsutetsu both proceeded to carry Monoma away down the stairs as Izuku and Katsuki continued to make their way to the library. Katsuki could see Izuku twisting the edge of his jacket in a nervous manner for a while before the nerd seemed to gather his nerve and ask:
“K-Kacchan? Could...could you help me pick an outfit for my date tonight?”
Katsuki wanted to say no. He had a lifetime of his parents trying to play dress up with him and likes sticking to his simple wardrobe choices: all black, head to toe. But he could tell that Izuku was getting more nervous about the date the more people around him felt the need to point out how attractive his date was in comparison to him. A bitter part of him also didn’t want to help Izuku look good for his date, jealousy that some extra gets to enjoy Izuku at his best instead of him surging in his heart. Another part of him felt bad at not being able to be happy and be unwilling to help his friend.
“Come on then nerd, let’s get to it.” Katsuki begrudgingly huffed, as he nodded towards the direction of their dorms, indicating for the other to follow him back to his room.
-----
After helping Izuku piece together a decent outfit with some borrowed clothes, because apparently the shitnerd didn’t own any decent suits besides whatever he wore to I-Island. The pinstriped maroon suit jacket and matching pants, a cream yellow dress shirt, and that stupid dorky bow tie that Izuku previously wore made him look too much like some dumb, cute, teddy bear, or whatever.
Then, Katsuki decided that since he had already done some stalking, he might as well do some more.
And that is how Katsuki ended up crouching behind a decorative bush in a fancy restaurant downtown, shoving his head between leaves, branches, and strings of distracting decorative lights to watch Izuku’s date unfold. Maybe it was just his weird way of coping with the weird idea of Izuku going on a date with someone else. Maybe he just wanted to be absolutely sure that this guy was a good match up for Izuku, after all, Katsuki was thorough with all that he did. It definitely wasn’t like Shitty Hair said when he confronted him leaving the dorm, trying to argue that Katsuki was the one that actually wanted to be on this date. Why the fuck would he want to be on a date with this shitty Netami or whatever?
The blonde didn’t need the ache in his knees from his never ending crouching to realize that Izuku’s date had been 30 minutes late. A few of the wait staff stopped by the nerd’s table, seemingly to ask if Izuku wanted to order anything in the meantime. Once an hour had passed, Katsuki saw the green haired boy order a simple soup, probably because his dumbass felt bad for keeping the restaurant table as long as he had without ordering anything. With each minute, Katsuki felt his heart sink further into his ass as he came to the conclusion that Izuku was being stood up by his shitty date. Izuku seemed to realize the same thing and he watched the nerd wipe at his eyes, with greater frequency and aggression as time went on. Behind the prickly shrub, Katsuki debated if he should make his presence known. On one hand, he felt bad for just leaving the nerd alone after his fuckass date abandoned him. On the other hand, Katsuki knew he would probably make Izuku feel embarrassed by letting him know that he witnessed the whole debacle. One could also argue that it would be embarrassing for him to explain to Izuku that he was already in the restaurant because he was spying on his first for the past two? three hours?
Shifting off his knees and onto his heels, Katsuki sat with the reality that he went out of his way to watch Izuku go on a date for several hours, a date that he was dreading for weeks leading up to today. Even if Raccoon eyes said he had the emotional bandwidth of a snail (fuck her by the way) he was smart enough to know how strange his behavior had been, and what it might mean for him and his relationship with Izuku.
“U-um…sir?”
Katsuki turned around, finding a young female server that was eyeing him nervously from behind.
“S-sir…you’ve been kneeling behind this bush with your head shoved in it for the past few hours…I’m afraid I'm going to have to ask you to please leave the establishment!” The server nervously stammered out, bending forward in a shaky bow.
“Hah!? The fuck you mean? I'm a customer.”
“Well sir…you aren’t even seated properly at a table, and because of that you haven’t ordered anything either.” The server explained, somewhat less nervous and more confused now.
Oh.
Oops.
-----
The following school day, Katsuki and Izuku walked to their homeroom class together. Katsuki did not get up early so he could time his walk to class with Izuku, thereby creating an opportunity for the two of them to spend some time alone in case Izuku wanted to talk about his bad date if he was still upset. Katsuki was not behaving like some ‘lovesick puppy’ as Jiro implied through text, apparently hearing him mumble and worry about Izuku in his dorm room last night (fuck everyone in this school).
As the two entered he classroom, they were meet with an immediate interrogation from the girls.
“Deku-kun!”
“Midoriya!!”
“MIDORIYA!”
“Your date! Tell us how your date went!” Uraraka asked and she leaned back, continuing to look at Izuku with excitement in her eyes.
“Yeah!” Hagakure chimed in as a Yuuei school uniform floated over “Did you have a good time? Did you like the match?”
“We worked extra hard to find you a good date since you mentioned wanting to give dating a shot.” Momo piped up from her desk a row away.
“I wouldn’t have minded getting a date with someone like Netami-san.” Hagakure signed to herself in a dreamy tone.
“Well?” Uraraka asked again, bouncing a bit in place as she waited for her friend’s reply.
Katsuki watched Izuku’s eyes dart between the girls. The blonde could see the gears turning in that dumb brain as clear as day. He knew from how close he is with Round Face that he must have spent a lot of time with her the past month, watching her spend what little free time she had between training, her work study, and classes to put this event together for a good cause, and still found the time to help her friend secure a date. Katsuki watched as Izuku consider all this as they both watched Round Face’s eyes gleam with anticipation, excitement, and hope, and he watched the nerd smile before answering:
“Yes I had a great time!” He said “Thank you all for everything you’ve done. I’m lucky to have such a supportive friend like you.”
As the girls cheered, Katsuki kept his eyes trained on Izuku’s, which were rimmed with a hint of redness.
-----
“Hey”
“Hmm?” Uraraka looked up from her desk to find Katsuki staring at her. She was taking a little longer than usual to pack her bags, Asui waiting with her, so the three were the only ones lingering in the classroom. “Bakugo? What’s up?” She questioned.
Katsuki shoved his hands in his pocket, wondering if he was about to regret what he was going to suggest. But the longer he stood there, the more he felt irritated with himself for all the pussyfooting that he had done and just decided to go for it.
“Izuku’s date never showed up last night. He got stood up.” Katsuki put plainly.
Katsuki knew that despite him calling Round Cheeks an airhead because of her quirk, she was by no means stupid. He watched as her facial features shifted from confusion, to surprise, and finally to sadness as she realized what her earlier interaction with the shitnerd meant. “Oh Deku-kun…” she let out softly.
Asui turned to Uraraka concerned, inquiring what was wrong. Once she finished explaining to her best friend the situation, the frog hero looked just as saddened.
“This is my fault.” Round Cheeks puffed, sitting back down at her desk in defeat. “I was the one who convinced him to take a chance with the blind date.” She admitted, leaning her elbows on her knees as she cupped her face. “We were talking, and he admitted never having gone on a date because he didn’t see himself as special or attractive in any way…I just wanted him to give it a shot so he’d realize what a great guy he was…”
“Netami-san did also seem like the perfect guy…” Asui mumbled sadly.
“Yeah…but I guess all I did was make Deku-kun think no one would want him.” Uraraka bemoaned, hands holding her face as the truth hit her.
Katsuki shifted his schoolbag on his shoulder as he watched the two. “Look, Round Cheeks, I won’t pretend like Izuku isn’t upset, but if you’re up for it, I think I have an idea as to how we could fix this.” The words tumbled out of his mouth before his nerves could force his mouth shut.
Uraraka looked up at the blonde, an eyebrow arched in surprise but also curiosity.
“What do you have in mind?”
-----
Izuku was hoping to spend the rest of the week rotting away in his bed. It wasn’t very heroic behavior that an up and coming hero like himself should emulate, but he couldn’t help it. He didn’t even want to enter the blind date raffle to begin with. Izuku knew from years of existing that he was, by society’s standards, rather unassuming. Even then, that’s a generous observation for him. That also meant that as a fanboy, Izuku was doomed to admire people way beyond his league like a certain blonde. But he thought about what Uraraka-san said about giving it a shot, and he figured maybe it would be a good way to build some confidence. After all! Confidence is key in many aspects of life, not just with being a hero! And the blind date hero raffle was also for a good cause and his classmates were in need, so he found little reason to ultimately reject her idea. However, the night in the restaurant only served to confirm his fears that Izuku really couldn’t get a date, and his insecurities only continued to fester.
However, All Might wanted to meet him on the rooftop of the school, and as the mentor who gave him everything he ever dreamed of, Izuku couldn’t find it in himself to make an excuse to his hero. Shuffling up the stairs, Izuku made his way to the rooftop, finally reaching the door, and pushing it open.
Instead of finding his mentor, Izuku found a candlelight dinner waiting for him. The table was set with a dark blue satin table cloth, a golden candelabra alight with three long white candles at the center of the table, with matching ceramic china lined with golden leaves and gold cutlery. One dish was plated with the crispiest looking katsudon, and the other was a small dish of mapo tofu. What stood out to Izuku the most though, was the most handsome guy he had ever seen. His childhood friend was adorned in a maroon dress shirt, a black velvet suit vest decorated on the sides with blue roses, matching suit and dress pants. The same suit he saw his childhood friend wear at I-Island. Tucked into his side was a bouquet of camellias, roses, carnations, and peonies.
“Hmm, if this bouquet is for a romantic date, I would recommend a combination of these flowers.” The florist stated, motioning to the buckets of flowers she had shown Katsuki earlier. “Camellias symbolize enduring love, roses symbolize love, but you probably already knew that, carnations symbolize pure loyalty, and peonies represent a strong bond.”
After selecting the bouquet, Katsuki walked to the register, pulling out his wallet to pay as the florist rang him up.
“Here you go.” She stated, gently handing the newly wrapped bouquet to Katsuki. “Good luck with your date! Whoever they are, they are very lucky to have a thoughtful date like you.”
Katsuki grabbed the bouquet, turning the bouquet around at his hands, taking a good look at the flowers and pondering their meanings as he thought about the dinner the girls were helping him set up.
“No, I’m the one that is lucky to have him.”
And lucky he was. Katsuki thought as Izuku charged into his arms.
