A Kirby period hurt / comfort fic.

Summary:

Chapter 1: You get your first period after being accidentally transported to Popstar. (Warning: Talking about blood and a couple of common embarrassing situations that can happen to people who have periods.)
Chapter 2: Y/N is suffering from a very bad period (and some serious anxiety), and Galacta Knight takes care of them. During this time, they both learn more about each other.

Notes:

Please note that this fic has traces of Meta Knight / Reader in it. This is also a kind of testing ground for me writing from Y/N’s perspective. Y/N doesn’t necessarily speak but they do respond to characters. I also tried to keep them gender neutral through out the fic because trans men, non-binary, and women all get periods too y’know. I hope you enjoy the cuddles, support and slight world building!)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Kirby, Bandana Waddle Dee, King Dedede, and Meta Knight

Chapter Text

The first thing you notice when you wake up is pain in your abdomen. The second thing you notice is the wet sensation in-between your legs. Your period just started.

Getting up quickly, with a bit of adrenaline in your blood, you throw off your sheets. The small amount of sunlight peaking through the windows reveals the blood stained sheets. After a moment of thinking you get up and head to the bathroom. Cringing the whole time as you feel more blood stain your legs and pajamas.

After cleaning up and changing clothes you mentally prepare yourself for the damage you're about to see. Turning on the lights you see the sheets are indeed darkly stained and that you left a small blood trail to the bathroom. Sighing you get to work.

After a bit of groaning in pain and cursing you finally have the sheets in the hamper, blood cleaned off the floor and the new feeling of nausea making itself known. You grab your laundry and start to make your way down the hall towards the laundry rooms. You had helped the Waddle Dees a few times there so you knew the way.

You passed a few of them and waved as you tried to keep the pain off your face. You made a mental note to head straight for the kitchen for crackers and a hot water bottle after you finished. When you reached the room you saw a group of Dees already doing some loads of laundry. Some of them even turned to you tilting their heads.

You smile slightly before telling them you're going to clean these up. However, as your are explaining, a particularly bad cramp hits you. Bending over slightly you groan as you resist the urge to curl in on yourself.

They immediately notice and one of them tugs at the basket. Not having the energy to argue you let them take it. Another goes to your side and helps you stay upright. You melt slightly at the warm contact.

However, before you can try to make up an excuse one of them makes a surprised noise. You and the others look at them and notice them holding up the sheets clearly showing the blood stain. You feel your cheeks heat up as the others respond with concerned squeaks and some words.

You stand up straight and explain that you don't need to go to the medical wing before they start to panic. Knowing the Waddle Dees won't let you go until they are sure you are fine you let out a heavy sigh. After getting your bearings together you explain your menstrual cycle to them, and that you don't want this to be a big deal.

They turn to each other and before you can decipher what they are saying two of them start leading you out of the room while the others turn back to their task. Before you can try and argue with them about fixing your sheets yourself one of them speaks. “You are in pain and as our guest we need to take care of you until you are well.”

You try to argue again but another cramp hits you and this time you fold to the ground. You can hear the two Dees speaking but are in too much pain to understand what they're saying. Then you feel yourself being picked up. When you move to try and see what is happening you notice there are two more Waddle Dees that have joined you.

Both of them are moving to pick up your legs further off the ground and the other two have your upper body off the ground already. After getting situated they move to carry you away. As you try to negotiate your way out of this with gritted teeth you notice they are heading to your room.

You groan and lay back into their hold as you accept your fate. Closing your eyes you hear them open a door and waddle into your room. You mentally thank yourself for getting through cleaning up the floor earlier. Then you notice that there is shuffling and cloth being moved. You open your eyes to see two other Waddle Dees finishing making up your bed.

The four Dees that are carrying you put you in the bed while the other two leave the room. Then as the door closes the Dee from before speaks to you again, “We are going to get you some red raspberry leaf tea to drink and some crackers, is that okay?”

You nod before requesting a hot water bottle as well. The Waddle Dee nods before following his companions out. After getting comfortable in the new sheets you try to rest.

The next thing you know you are being gently woken up by a pair of nubs. Moving to sit up you see two Waddle Dees in the room with you. One of them has a tray that has the tea and food and the other has a hot water bottle on hand. You thank both of them as you put the hot water bottle in your lap, causing you to let out a sigh of relief, and let the Dee put the tray on the bed.

After you take a sip from the tea the Waddle Dees ask if you need anything else. You simply tell them to come and check on you in six hours so you can take the next dose of pain medication. They nod and leave the room, but before the speaking one leaves they turn to you. “I forgot to mention that Bandana Waddle Dee asked why you weren't at breakfast. I told him what was going on and he said that he will be taking care of your duties for the day.”

You smile as you think of the kind Dee. He always had your back and was the one responsible for you having a place in the castle. You nod and thank him for the grace he has given you. The Dees smiles with his eyes as he tells you it's no problem. Once he leaves you finish breakfast and take the pain killers.

After you do finish you put the tray on the nightstand and get comfortable again. Thinking of what you can do to distract yourself. Humming you decide to turn on a movie as the noise makes it an easier distraction than a book.

About three quarters through, a Waddle Dee comes in to take the tray and offers to bring you a heating pad since the water bottle was starting to get cold. You happily agree and thank him. The Dee leaves with the tray and your tea cup.

By the second movie you feel tired but too nauseous to sleep. The newly acquired heating pad was helping but it wasn't enough to prevent the muscle spasms that were making your legs and abdomen ache. Worried you may throw up, you reluctantly get out of bed and move the trash can close to the edge of the bed. Once you are settled you try and get some rest again.

The nausea has only intensified and you wonder if taking any medication would be worth it at this point. Turning again you hear someone knock on the door. You tell them to come in and hiss slightly from moving to face the door. It's Bandana Waddle Dee or Bandee as you and close friends call him.

“I hope you are feeling better.” He says, walking in with what smells like soup. Smiling slightly at him you say you feel nauseous and tired. “Oh, that sucks. I can get you some medicine and some chamomile tea. I-if you want that is.”

After considering for a moment you nod. If you want to take some more painkillers you need to eat. “Got it.” Bandee responds before switching the trays and going to the door.

You cringe at the smell of food being so close to you as your stomach twists. You grab a pillow and hide your face hoping to block out the smell long enough to get those pills. Your body has other ideas as you feel a cramp hit you. The pain makes your abdomen cramp up and you move quickly to throw up in the trash can.

You feel tears prick your eyes as you gag violently. A nub rubs your back as you silently cry at the smell and overwhelming feelings. After a couple of moments you finally sit up and see Bandee holding a napkin out in front of you. You take it and as you clean up he speaks concern lacing his voice, “Are you okay? That looked like it hurt.”

You shake your head before moving to lay down again. Bandee hums before moving his nub to his face tilting his head as he does so. He is considering something. After a moment he speaks, “Go ahead and brush your teeth. I think I should stay with you until you feel a bit better. Is that okay?”

You nod, wanting comfort from your friend. Moving towards the bathroom you see the Dee's eyes follow you before he turns away. Feeling self-conscious you quickly close the bathroom door and take a minute to gather yourself before once again having to clean up.

Opening the door you now see Bandee sitting in a chair next to your bed. You smile before telling him if he wants he can cuddle with you after you eat. He smiles at that and asks if you need anything else. You say talking to you while you eat may help, but to try and keep it down since your head started to hurt.

He nods before moving towards the window telling you about his morning shift. You tilt your head at his movements in silent question he answers, “I am going to close the curtains so there is less light in here. The lamp should be dim enough so you can still see while you eat without hurting your eyes.”

You nod feeling thankful at his thoughtfulness. As you both talk and you slowly eat, the door opens. “Bandee! Y/N!”

You cringe at Kirby's loud voice. Bandee quickly shushed him before the puff ball could continue. Kirby tilted his head as he looked you over before stage whispering, “Is Y/N sick?”

Bandee looked over at you for a moment, concern in his eyes. You nodded to him in silent confirmation to his question. “Yes, they told us that they don’t feel very well depending on the days of the month because of a cycle that makes them bleed.”

You blushed again at the mention of menstrual blood, but you are slightly impressed by the Waddle Dees simple summary of the very complex biological function. Kirby seemed to think about the information for a while as he continued to stand in the doorway. You move to eat as a way to distract yourself from the sudden silence before hearing Kirby finally say, “Do they need a maximo tomato?”

You smile at the boy’s words. Despite him not quite understanding he is still trying his best to help. “No, it is too acidic for them right now. They are having some soup so they can take painkillers and some medication for their headache. It should also help hydrate them since they threw up.” Bandee explained.

Kirby nodded before closing the door and walking over to you. Before Bandee can stop him Kirby jumps on the bed and cuddles into your side. Tilting your head at him he says, “When I feel bad cuddling helps me, so I thought it might help you too.”

You smile again at him and turn to Bandee who seems to be softly smiling as well. You motion for him to join you both. The Waddle Dee pauses looking unsure before sighing as he joins in. Once you are finished Bandee helps put the tray on the nightstand as you get comfortable. Some time later a Waddle Dee comes in to see you, Kirby and Bandee all cuddled up. Smiling, Dee takes the tray and closes the door deciding that there is no reason to tell the King where Bandana Waddle Dee is just this once.

By the time dinner time rolls around you, Kirby, and Bandee are all awake and talking. You feel a little better after your long cuddling session, and decide that you can join the others in the dining hall. However, your still on edge knowing that the your reaction to the cramping would continue to alert the others in the castle causing you to continuously explain the taboo subject, and you didn't really feel like discussing it every time someone sees you flinch or act a little strange.

Apparently Bandee can tell you're nervous and urges you to explain. As you do he says that he can tell the King himself about your cycle so he doesn't make a big deal in the dining hall. Kirby says that the other Waddle Dees likely already know because some of them helped clean up after you got sick.

You feel a little relieved about the Waddle Dees already knowing due to their habits towards guests. However, even the thought of someone else having to explain something so personal to someone as loud as the King makes you frown. Dedede isn't unkind but he would likely not be able to be subtle when he would try to ask questions at dinner regardless if anyone was able to explain the whole process to him in detail. You considered your options before asking Bandee to get the King to come to your room.

Bandee nods and Kirby stays cuddle up next to you as the touch helps ground you some. After what seems like an eternity you hear a knock at the door. When you let them enter King Dedede frowns at the sight of you asking, “What's all this about?”

You ask Kirby and Bandee to leave the room so you can explain everything to him. Since he is an adult you feel a little more comfortable explaining the whole cycle being involved with your reproduction thing but not around the kids. As you explain you see his face cringe and then change to one of sympathy. By the end of it you are no longer looking at him feeling too embarrassed and exposed.

You hear footsteps before you feel a hand on your shoulder. “Can you look at me hun?”

You slowly do and see the King look at you with determination. He takes your hands into his and says, “I won't lie I have a million questions but right now I doubt you have the energy for a q and a, huh?”

You nod and he continues, “Alright, do you think you can eat in the dining hall or would you rather eat in here with the kids and me?”

You say you can go to the dining hall but you may have to eat something light instead of what was prepared for everyone else. As you speak you feel your eyes fill with tears. The kindness and empathy your friend displayed makes your heart squeeze and you simply can't hold your tears in.

As you begin to cry Dedede pulls you into a hug. You stiffen before letting yourself hug back. Feeling the warmth of his feathers and strength in his presence you let yourself feel. All while he holds you up and lets your tears soak his clothes. After a few moments you pull away and wipe your eyes.

Once your vision is clear the King pokes fun at you staining his robe. It makes you laugh despite your embarrassment creeping in slightly. You get up and follow him out into the hall. You find both boys are waiting for you. Dedede tells them to take you to the dining hall while he heads to the kitchen, so he can request something for your sensitive stomach. Both nod and you follow them down the castle halls.

“Are you okay?” Kirby asks.

You nod. You actually feel much better after letting yourself cry. Things have been stressful for you. You had to adjust to a new life since you ended up on pop star by accident. Yeah, life wasn’t too hard here but that didn't mean you didn't run into some issues. You were alien to them and this new development had made you feeling more vulnerable than usual. You had hoped back then that this gross body function didn't have you losing friends like it could do on Earth. So the events of the day had you feeling relieved but exhausted.

The puff ball nodded before rushing ahead talking all the way as he did leading Bandee to walk beside you alone. “Do you want to have a sleepover tonight?” Bandee asked suddenly.

You nod before back tracking wanting to make sure that he wasn't just offering because he felt obligated. The Dee giggled at you before reassuring you that he didn't mind. Bandee called Kirby over and tells him your answer to what was apparently the puffs idea. Kirby in Kirby fashion jumps up and down while celebrating. After that he skips ahead again and continues to chant, “Sleepover, sleepover, sleepover!” as he goes down the hall. Making you and Bandee giggle at his antics.

As you got to the dining hall you noticed that despite basically every Waddle Dee knowing about today's events, nothing had changed about their behavior. You guessed that you should have known based on their reaction earlier only being worried, but it still felt nice. Once you sat down you talked to Bandee and Kirby about what to do during your sleepover. By the time you had decided to just continue to watch TV you heard King Dedede ask, “What’s all this talk about a sleepover tonight?”

“We are going to sleep in Y/N’s room since they are still feeling kinda bad. And we are going to get some chocolate after dinner and watch their favorite movie!” Kirby announced. You giggled at his change in tone at the mention of chocolate. He and Dedede were very surprised that chocolate could actually help you during this time.

King Dedede huffed before asking, “Where is my invitation to this sleepover? I know how much you like my hugs, so who’s to say I ain't a good cuddler too!”

You blush at such an invitation to cuddle with him. You weren't against it, but the context of cuddling with the kids and with the King were a bit different. You also knew that the King wouldn't take it that way though. Despite his kind and sometimes flirty nature the King and you were just friends. So you invite him bowing to match Dedede's flare.

The King laughs as he exclaims, “I would love to join in on the cuddle party though I must warn you some of the Dees may join us as the nights goes on.”

You ask why that is. Bandee answers before he does, “Sometimes we get the urge to cuddle in order to keep warm and since Great King got here he has never turned us down, so now we all developed a habit to come and cuddle in his room if the impulse hits us. Unless of course he tells us specifically not too, but that rarely happens.”

You nod at his answer as your brain conjures the image of the Waddle Dees all cuddled up around the King while pillows and blankets surround them making the bed seem more like a nest. You smile at the idea as the promise of warmth and comfort outweigh your anxiety of ruining the sheets and dirtying one of them in the night.

The noise of the dinning halls doors opening breaks you out of your thoughts. Chef Kawasaki steps through as other Waddle Dees follow pushing carts that carry food. He and his staff help serve and by the end of it a slight silence spreads across the room as everyone digs in.

With food in your belly you feel slightly bloated but the new dose of painkillers has made the sacrifice of eating seem well worth it. As you, Kirby, Bandee and now King Dedede walk down to your room with conversation filling the air you think that maybe it will be okay. “Y/N, you okay?”

You turn to Dedede and nod telling that you were just lost in thought while you smile. The King smiles back before asking, “So you said this last a couple of days right?”

You tell him about the length of your cycle and ask why he needs to know. He lifts his hands up at your tone, “I-I am just wondering so I know how long you are out for since you have been helping around the castle so much. I should also tell Meta Knight since he will likely ask about why you aren't walking about so much.”

Your mind pauses at the mention of the knight. You, in the short time you have known him, have developed a slight crush. His chivalrous attitude and kindness towards Kirby and Bandee made it easy to fall for him. Although you knew better than to act on those feelings. He was still wary of you just based on what Dedede just said. You sigh and the King pats you on the back lightly before continuing, “I know you likely don't want to keep talking about it since it makes you uncomfortable so I'll do it that he doesn't corner you.”

You smile at him comforted by his consideration. “Ah, here we are!” Dedede announces.

He holds the door open for everyone and as you enter you realize something. This bed is not big enough for all of you. You huff getting the others attention. You tell them about the issue and King Dedede pauses before saying sheepishly, “You know I sometimes forget you guys don't have that big of a bed.”

You smile at him and chuckle a little bit. King Dedede turns to the door before saying, “Well guess we better head to my room then.”

Before you set off you make sure to grab your water bottle, period bag and heating pad. Just as you are about to leave you feel a bad cramp hit you causing you to wince. Dedede seeing this reaches for you and before you can question him through your haze he picks you up. You squeak at his actions and before you try, for the second time today, to explain that your legs still work despite the fact that you are bleeding, the King shushes you. “I know you can walk, but you are in pain so let me at least help your body carry some of the burden, eh?”

You huff at his word play about carrying you, but stop squirming. He turns his attention back to the halls and calls out for the kids to slow down a little bit. You laugh hearing in real time Dedede go through the five stages of grief as the kids ask for him to carry them as well.

Once you get to the King's room he lets you know where the bathroom is so you can store your bag. As you do so he and the kids get situated on the bed. Walking back you see they left you a space in between King Dedede and Bandee. Smiling you crawl into bed and put the heating pad on your abdomen. However, instead of continuing to cuddle Bandee Kirby moves to sit in between your legs. You take a moment to consider how you feel about his position before letting the puff have his way. King Dedede turns on the movie and you let out a breath feeling more relaxed than you have in a while.

When you wake up you feel more bodies than you originally fell asleep with. You still feel King Dedede behind you and his arms around your waist but now with someone sitting in-between you both. One of Kirby nubs is still being loosely draped over your legs, but you feel another pair by your feet too. Lastly Bandana Waddle Dee is still snuggled in your arms fast fast asleep while another Waddle Dee sits beside your head on your pillow. Lifting your head you see even more Waddle Dees scattered on the bed cuddled up to one another and your friends. It brings a smile to your face despite the still stabbing pain that likely woke you up being present.

You lay there for a moment before carefully trying to get yourself out of the cuddle pile. After a few minutes of struggling you manage to make it off the bed. You hiss slightly at the feeling of the cold floor, but make sure to stay quiet to prevent them from waking up.

You use the bathroom and get cleaned up before leaving the bedroom making note of where you are. You hadn't actually been to this part of the castle at night so you needed to be mindful. That way you could walk back without bothering a patrolling Waddle Dee.

You held yourself as you walked feeling the chill and ache of your muscles. You silently cursed your body once again for being such a pain in the ass. As you walk the halls you wave to the Waddle Dees you do run into and reassure them when they ask if you are okay. You remind yourself to make those pies that they like so much as thanks after you start to feel better.

After flicking on the stove top hood light you look at the kitchen cabinets considering where some gram crackers are. However, before you can search for them you hear a noise causing you to freeze. Turning your head slowly towards the noise you see a familiar pair of yellow eyes.

Meta Knight stares you down. You don't move. Then he says calmly, “I didn't mean to scare you.”

You huff at that. He always scared everyone with his little appearing out of thin air act. He continues, “Why are you up at this hour?”

You tell him about your journey to find gram crackers. Meta Knight nods before pointing at the pantry, “They are on the right, third shelf towards the center.”

You tilt your head wondering why he would know where it is before deciding it wasn't worth asking. While grabbing your snack of choice you feel your body protest. Hissing quietly you instinctually grab at your lower abdomen. Of course you didn't close the door needing the light from the kitchen to help you see, so the knight saw your actions.

He moved towards you almost immediately, reaching a hand towards you through his dark blue cape. You don't have the energy to bat his hand away so you let him guide you to a stool. After you sit and do some breathing exercises to keep yourself from throwing up again you look up. His eye color is now green and his head is tilted. He is thinking your brain supplies.

You also now notice that his hand is still on your arm. It seems like he notices it as well and quickly removes it, his eyes flick back to yellow. After another beat of silence he asks, “Why are you in pain?”

You consider lying to him not wanting to have this conversation again, but you remember that last time you tried he lectured you about it. Sighing, you tell him you are on your period and that it makes your abdomen, back and legs ache. The knight nods as you explain.

You sit there waiting for the endless amount of questions and after a moment he asks, “Does the pain happen every month?”

You nod before saying that it can vary but pain is always present. He nods and then says, “I will make you some chamomile while you eat. Once you are finished I will guide you back to your room.”

You shyly explain that you were in Dedede's room with the kids and some Waddle Dees. The knight sits there for a moment before he simply turns and goes to complete his task. How odd.

Once you are done and take the thermos filled with tea he beckons you to follow. You do, moving at his side. After a couple of minutes he asks, “I am guessing the children and the King know then?”

You nod. “Is there anything else you need?”

You consider it but your mind can only think of getting back to sleep and taking those painkillers, so you shake your head. He nods and continues on.

Once you reach the King’s room he turns to you. “I know we haven't really talked, but I want to let you know that you can turn to me for support. You may be different but trust me when I say that the people of Dream Land will support you regardless. Some of us even know the feeling of being different.”

You want him to elaborate, but before you can ask he continues, “So please let me know if you need anything or if things become too much. Because someone really cares about you.”

His eyes are now a soft shade of magenta. However it changes back so quickly that you think you may have imagined it. Once you nod he turns away and leaves you alone outside the room.

Getting back into bed is easier than it was getting out. Now with the painkillers in your system you easily drift off as your mind clouds with thoughts about your interaction with the knight.

Two days later you are still thinking about that night. Especially since that meeting had somewhat changed how you interacted with Meta Knight. Because for the last two days he has been visiting your room. Yes, he usually is there to collect the kids for their daily training, but he did still come back with them to chat. That is how you discovered that he likes to read much like yourself. You even shared your favorite literature with one another. However, you still couldn’t get him to tell you what his favorite dessert was.

Pity considering that you were finally going to make dessert for everyone tonight. After begging Bandee to let you do something useful, since you felt a little bad for lazing around the last couple of days, you got the opportunity to help with it. With Chef Kawasaki’s help you and his sous chefs you were able to finally make the pies the Dees liked. Well you were almost finished, you still needed to finish baking the rest of them.

Thus here you were working and thinking about his words. You tried to keep your face neutral as well knowing that the Dees were gossipers much to your and everyone else’s dismay. You giggled just thinking about it. “What amuses you so?”

You jumped at the sound of Meta Knight’s voice. Turning to face him you said you were thinking about how the Dees were such gossips and how ridiculous that truly sounded. He huffed at the mention of their habit causing you to smile. You turned back to your work as you heard a kitchen timer go off. Moving to the bottom oven you bent down to pull it out with a pare of oven mitts. The work helps you stay calm despite him watching you so closely.

However, the moment you moved to set the pie on a cooling rack you heard Meta Knight move. “Why are you bleeding?”

You froze at those words. Why did he sound so panicked now? It's not like you forgot to tell him about that part, right? However, your anxiety and past experiences told you a different story as you rushed to pull at the back of your apron. Blood, there was blood on your apron. That meant that you had bled through your pants at some point.

Your face burned but before you could even think of how to sneak out with a white apron stained with period blood on you felt someone lift you up. You had to say that you were getting sick of being picked up this week. Before you could voice your complaint you suddenly realized Meta Knight, the most stubborn person you knew, had picked you up bridal style.

Regardless, your pride wouldn’t stop you from trying. You try to explain that you are in fact not dying, but the knight only responds with a stack of questions, “Then why are you bleeding? If you were fine you wouldn’t be bleeding enough to soak through your clothes. More importantly, why did you not tell me you were hurt? Did my words two nights ago mean nothing?”

As he spoke he was running with you in his arms through the kitchen telling people to move as he did so. You sighed, rubbing your hands over your face before trying again, but he was having none of it. The only thing you could think was that now the Dees were definitely going to gossip about you for the next few days at least.

By the time you reached the medical wing you had tried to tell him that it was a part of your monthly cycle, but nothing seemed to reach the muttering knight. Hence why you had just buried your now blushing face in your hands as Meta Knight called for assistance with you. You are put on a gurney as a pair of Waddle Dees move you to a more private location away from Meta Knight. Dr. Dee after a minute or two comes in and states, “I talked to Meta Knight and he says that you are bleeding in between your legs.”

You nod turning to him before explaining your period. The Waddle Dee nods along before saying, “I will explain it to Meta Knight then, but before I do that I will get one of the nurses to bring you the supplies you need and show you to one of our showers so you can clean up. Is that alright?”

You nod and wait for Nurse Dee to come and get you. When you were led to the bathroom and told how to use the shower you could only think of how embarrassing meeting Meta Knight would be again.

You must have not told him about the bleeding part, and you want to say that it isn’t your fault because you were in pain and just wanted gram crackers, but your brain thinks that, how can you when you had the opportunity to explain it to him alone and you didn’t. Now you wished that you had gotten over your pride earlier. You sigh and let the water wash away your thoughts even though you can still feel your stomach twist with anxiety.

After finishing, getting dressed and mentally preparing yourself you let the Dee lead you to the waiting room again. The second you walk out you see Meta Knight sitting in a chair, which still makes you smile a little because despite how the chairs are built his feet still don’t touch the ground. As he looks up at you for a moment you think his eyes look white. However, the color is gone and he looks toward the ground.

Before you can speak to him he holds up his hand and says, “I would like to speak about today's events in a more private place please.”

After considering for a moment you take pity on the knight and let him lead you to a more private area. On your way there you see some Waddle Dees coming back from dinner making you sigh. You would have to answer to Bandee after your conversation with Meta Knight.

Before you could consider what you should say to the poor Dee who is probably worried sick by now you are pushed from your thoughts by almost bumping into Meta Knight. He opens a door and you realize with some awe that this is his office in the castle based on the rooms set up. As you step further in you hear the door lock causing you to turn to the knight. He still isn’t looking at you.

You wait in silence. Once again giving him some grace oly because you knew his intentions were not malicious. After what feels like a long pause he says, “I want to start by stating that I did not mean to embarrass you in any way.”

Oh, how those words make you smile despite how embarrassed and upset he did in fact make you feel. However, before you can tell him that he continues, “I should have asked you more extensively when I was given the opportunity but I wanted to give you space. I do not blame your actions now that I understand how taboo the topic is. I am very much at fault for this situation either way. The King did mention your cycle to me, but I simply said that you had explained it to me, so he left it at that. In hindsight I should have taken the opportunity to learn more about it but you seemed embarrassed, so I didn’t want to intrude.”

As he speaks he walks toward you taking your hands into his and says with utmost sincerity, “I deeply apologize for my actions today.”

You take a moment to absorb his words and he takes it as him needing to continue, “I was truly worried about you, and if I haven’t made it clear I like your presence and would like to learn more about you. I hope that you give me another chance despite my disrespect.”

You can only look at him with shock. He liked you? You knew that you were at least on friendly terms, but to hear him say that he cared and wanted to be friends made your heart both squeeze and swell. You take a moment to gather the right words before telling him that you accept his apology and that he should have indeed talked to you about it or at least consulted the King but it was too late for that. And knowing that he would likely still feel unworthy of the grace given to him you continue by asking for compensation. It being him finally telling you his favorite dessert.

This takes him aback but he seems to relax a bit still. “If I must to keep your company, chocolate parfait is my favorite dessert. I do ask for you to not tell others about it.”

You briefly wonder why he is so adamant about not letting people know before you smile at him. You ask if he would like to join you in the kitchen after you talked to Bandee. As a way to comfort the knight. His eyes turn magenta as he accepts your offer. But before he moves toward the door and he turns to you and asks, “What is your favorite dessert Y/N?”
