The port town of Dia was always bustling, with many sailors, merchants, and bards passing through the streets each day. To Silas, its liveliness and variety made it the perfect place for a date. So, he and Corrin had come to spend the day there, since peacetime left them with ample time to.
Corrin raced down the pier with a skip in her step. Her purple hair, however short, rustled beautifully in the wind. Silas smiled softly as he trailed behind her at a leisurely pace.
“Ahhh, what a nice breeze!” Corrin exclaimed giddily. Silas had to agree, as the sea breeze felt cool and refreshing against his skin. A few fishermen gave Corrin dirty looks, probably for talking so loud. Still, not seeming to have noticed, she made it all the way to the end of the pier unbothered. Once there, she leaned her whole body against the shoddy wooden railing and let out a pleased sigh.
“You know, no matter how many times I see the sea, it never gets old,” Corrin said as she admired the horizon. Silas gazed at her fondly as he made his way to her. Once he caught up, he smoothly slipped his hand into hers.
“And I never tire of your appreciation for it,” Silas hummed. He found the sea lovely himself, but he loved Corrin’s undying sense of wonder toward it even more. That she was able to stop and smell the roses was one of the things that he loved about her the most, ever since they were children.
“Hehe, you’re so sweet, Silas!” Corrin giggled as she turned to face him with a grin of her own. The sight made Silas’ heart race as though he were still pining for her. Though those days were long behind him, his love for her had not mellowed out in the slightest.
“I really mean it,” Silas said earnestly. “I’m not just saying it to flatter you.”
He then shifted toward the town and tugged on Corrin’s hand so that she came to face it as well. He looked upon the familiar streets and remembered that fateful day when soldiers lined them.
“This town is important to me. It’s where we reunited… Things were so complicated back then, but also very simple. I knew that I could never turn on you,” Silas admitted solemnly. His memory of that moment was as clear as day, as it was the moment that he’d fallen for Corrin. “Being here just reminds me of how much I’ve always loved you, I suppose.” He peered over at her bashfully.
“Silas…” Corrin gasped quietly as she met his gaze. Silas could tell that in her eyes was as much love for him as he held for her. He couldn’t help but let his lips creep up into a grin at having his feelings returned. He gently tugged Corrin’s hand forward once more.
“The past is important, but shall we go enjoy the present?”
Corrin’s serious expression transformed into a beam as her excitement swiftly returned.
“Yes, let’s!”
