Summary
The throne room of Castle Ostia was cold, empty, and full of long shadows, only growing longer as the sun rolled westward. The air had a heavy scent of stagnation to it, and its staleness clung to Hector like a morning mist to a valley. He heard his every step echo even in the furthest corners of the room and tasted dust on his tongue the closer he got to the dais. The throne loomed up ahead, framed by two stained-glass windows, empty and lonely; it mirrored how Hector felt deep inside. As he ambled forward, he saw his breath cloud in the frigid air. Why was it so bloody cold here? So dusty? So suffocatingly stagnant? It was as if the castle’s caretakers stopped with the upkeep of this room, like no one was using it…
Hector, grieving Uther’s death, isolates himself in the throne room of Castle Ostia. Florina finds him there concerned for his well-being. They share a moment of vulnerability that deepens the emotional bond they have with each other.

In the world ravaged by the Problem, teenagers still suffer from unrequited love. Lucy Carlyle, is unfortunately one of them and have contracted the worst version of this ailment the dreadful Hanahaki disease.
