   Summary

   Nichols' entire body went numb. Every inch of him felt clammy and cold, like he was a stranger in his own body. He wanted nothing more than to cry out, yet the scream died in his throat, and all he managed was a whimper. Unable to keep himself balanced, he slipped off the bench and into the bottom of the boat, curling up into a ball. He just wanted it to stop. For it to all be over. For the creatures to go away.
