Work Text:
Rubbing her eyes, Angela yawned as she sat up in bed. She opened her eyes and turned her head, glancing to the side where her alarm clock sat on the nightstand. But it wasn't there, and the room was dark, illuminated by an unfamiliar glow.
Panic shot through her. She felt movement next to her in the bed and was made aware of the arm that was laid across her lap (seemingly holding her hips before she moved). Feeling as if she couldn't breathe, Angela shot out of bed and pushed through the bedroom door, thankful that it was already open.
She couldn't remember anything from the night before. She remembered drinking with Chanse. Because... they were at a company party! Right. A party. Angela panicked as she walked through the hallways of this random house, turning a few corners before finally finding the kitchen.
She searched through the cupboards, searching for a glass. She needed water. Water would clear her head and clear her eyes from the tears that she felt threatening to spill already. On her second search, she eventually grabbed a glass from the middle shelf and brought it to the sink. Angela turned on the water, rinsing it a few times (just to be safe in this strange home) before filling it up and taking a careful sip.
So, this was what she knew -
1. Last night was the holiday party.
Actually, scratch that. She didn't know what day it was. Or what time it was. She could've been unconscious for two weeks, she wouldn't know.
A glance at the timer on the microwave read 03:13, but she didn't know if she trusted that all too well. It was very obviously early, though. Too dark outside, especially for the time of year. Well, the time of year that Angela last remembered being conscious.
She needed to find her phone. Where was her phone?
Angela closed her eyes, setting the glass on the counter and clutching onto the edge with both hands. She inhaled, then exhaled. She could do this. She could search the house. She was strong, she had gotten out of worse.
Looking down, she realized that she wasn't even in her own clothes. Some other oversized pants and a hoodie that she couldn't analyze in the dark. Great. It's fine. She picked the glass back up, deciding to down the rest of the water and leave it in the dish rack. (Force of habit, most likely).
Finally, Angela moved out of the kitchen and inched back into the bedroom. As quiet as she could, barely being able to breathe through her mouth out of nerves. She had an idea on how to get back into the room, though she didn't remember why she knew.
Stepping back into the room, Angela's eyes snapped to a vanity, where a black rectangle sat. She rushed for it, picking it up and pressing the power button on the phone. A sigh of relief left her lips as she realized it was hers, nearly crying in victory.
Then, she remembered that she wasn't alone. Her eyes glanced around the vanity- onto a framed photo. One she recognized.
Turning on her phone screen again for a little light, she looked closer at the frame to see one of her favorite photos. Of her, Chanse, and Amanda at a company event a few years back. Why did this person have this? That's so fucking creepy, Angela almost vomited, worried that she was being stalked or-
Oh.
Angela turned around, finally getting a good look at the bed. Specifically, who laid in the bed.
It was just Amanda. Holy shit.
Angela choked out a sob of relief this time, realizing that she had been wrong. She took a few minutes to stand there, watching Amanda as she recalled the night before. A few regrets, but it was way better than her original assumption.
Eventually, she sat her phone back down and crawled back into the bed. She didn't know if she was going to get much sleep, but as she curled back up into Amanda's arms, she didn't mind too much.
She decided that she would tell Amanda of her panic in the morning - how funny the situation was. Well, actually not funny at all.
Okay, maybe Amanda doesn't actually need to know.
That's okay. Angela could live without Amanda finding this out, it wasn't her problem anyways.
(Angela did in fact, end up falling asleep again. Don't worry.)
