Summary
From the moment they met her, Kris had always looked up to Dess. They thought she was the coolest girl in the world, and dreamed of being her friend, rather than just her friend's sibling. But once they get a little older, Dess begins making increasingly uncomfortable advances on them. Kris tries their best to grit their teeth and deal with it - her attention IS what they wanted, right? - and is left feeling increasingly upset, confused, and violated... culminating in one night that tears apart whatever friendship they had, forever.
Afterward, Kris is left to grow up trying to cope with the damage Dess did to them. They intend to carry that secret with them to the grave - telling people would just make things worse. Their friendship with Noelle goes down the drain, with them finding it hard to even talk to her, let alone go to her house like they used to. They turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms to get by.
Or, Kris gets hurt, and slowly learns to rely on their friends a little more.
