I’m so proud of my son

Summary:

Jason had always done iffy in school, especially the math classes.

It only took two years but he finally got that A he wanted, if only Bruce could tell him he was proud

Work Text:

Jason had never really excelled in school, having not really been present there to begin with.

However, when he did make an appearance in the shabby elementary school he always did really well in the literary subjects, even in what little arts they had. When it came to other subjects he seemed to be lacking. Math was especially a pain to him, usually failing, maybe managing a low d for a final grade.

When he was found that night trying to steal the tires off the Batmobile, it was never really a thought that he’d need or want for better schooling. He was bound to be Robin, and providing for him was a no brainer. It was only when Alfred had brought up how Jason seemed to struggle with the simplest math while on patrol that the idea fell into place.

Obviously the boy would get the best.

Jason argued, denied that he needed any help or better education. He didn’t believe there was any reason for there to be worry over his education. Jason wanted to be Robin, didn’t think much past that.

After a few weeks though, he came around.

Slowly but surely.

He still refused to work with a private tutor, but he’d ask for help. And that’s all that could be asked of him for the time being.

Over the months his grades leveled out, nothing was below a C. Jason was extremely proud of this, not used to such recognition for something as simple as the grades he received on homework that didn’t matter.

By his second year in school, he had managed to settle in well racking up B’s for everything but math.

He had yet to manage to end the year with a B in math, he held steady on that C and was clearly relishing the attention he received for it.

One week Jason was hyping up his math test, saying how this was gonna be the one he passed. He had such high belief in himself and felt like he finally had this one.

And he did.

I just wish I didn’t have to bury my little boy with that test in a final attempt of letting him know how proud I was.

Notes:

I tried to do it from Bruce’s POV, I know it kinda sucks but I wanted to deal a blow
