Chapter Text
"Fiery ginger hair, porcelain skin littered with freckles like stardust on her cheeks, green eyes so bright you swear they'd glow in the dark. "
That's how Marlo would describe her little sister, Lyra.
"so small yet so full of life, i'll always protect her."
But she failed, didn't she? She signed her up for that kingergarten―that stupid fucking kindergarten with the weird mascots and the shady staff. She should've known better than to trust them. She should've known better. Freshly 19 years old and she'd managed to loose her baby sister to that eye-bleeding kindergarten and those shady staff, just a year after finally having her in her custody She was going to fix this. She wouldn't loose her she's all she has left.., not to this hell. Her lungs hurt, her ribs hurt- everything hurt. But she kept going, she kept running from that freaky two-headed turtle-lizard thing, down annoyingly orange hallways, twisting and turning as fast as she could, with Little Beak under her arm. With a painful skid across linoleum flooring, she tumbled into a room with two buttons, quickly backing up against the far corner as that thing shoved it's heads through the slim entrance, getting itself stuck. She coughed and wheezed, her head light and dizzy. Her legs hurt but her lungs hurt more, feeling as though her ribs were cracking with every wheeze in. Little beak nudged their head into the bag on her back, pulling out her inhaler and bonking her arm, looking up at her with those beady glass eyes.
"t-thank- thank you-"
she managed to wheeze out, coughing and trying to will herself not to throw up and take a small breath in. She brought the red plastic to her lips, slowly breathing in the medicine. Her head was still a little heavy, but she didn't want to use up too much of the medicine. She only had one inhaler, after all. Stuffing the device back into her backpack, she zipped it up again and shakily stood up, giving a small cough before steadying hierself. She guided Little Beak to sit on one of the buttons on the floor, herself standing on the other. the little pink chick was tucked safely under her arm as she moved into the next room, looking around as she heard the small buzzing of his drone. A smile stretched across her lips as she spotted it, quickly placing little beak up on the higher-up button and herself on the lower button on the other side of the (still annoyingly orange) linoleum room. She unlocked the door by flying the drone into the button above it, moving over to Little Beak and holding her arms out.
"c'mon Lil' Bee, off to the next room.."
She began, his voice trailing off as the bird didn't hop in her arms, instead just standing there and staring at her. She sighed, at least you'll be safe she thought, heading into the next room. Her footsteps echoed on neon tiles, her eyes catching the glaring yellow of a new remote on a stand in the middle of the room. Her eyebrow raised, and she walked over to it, reaching out for it. Her fingertips barely touched the yellow plastic before she swiftly hit the floor, a throbbing pain in her skull as something grabbed her legs and began to drag her away, into the dark as her eyes closed and she gave into a much needed rest...
