Work Text:
You doubled over as you felt your lower gut squeeze yet again, sending a wave of discomfort and pain shooting up your nerves again, lighting them up like a bonfire. You hobbled upstairs, curling up in bed. Thats when you heard the knocking start, presumably from the front door.
There was no way in hell you were making it downstairs like this. You gulped and called out,
“WHO IS IT?” You waited for a moment, praying that the whoever outside heard you and you didn't need to repeat yourself. Luckily, whatever God is up there heard you.
“IT'S ME. I, UH…” Eric called. You heard faint shuffling. “HEARD ABOUT YOUR CONDITION. GOT SOME STUFF. CAN I COME IN?” You grumbled, but eventually called out your approval. You heard the door open and footsteps, and then he appeared in the doorway, blinking at you.
“Hey.” His voice was lower than usual. You grunted, stomach still feeling like it was collapsing in on itself.
“What'd you bring?” You asked, nodding at his bag. In one hand, he held a white plastic bag with a Walmart logo stamped on it. He walked over to the bed, sat down, and began to root through it. He set the objects down one by one.
“Advil, your favorite candy, soda, and…” he huffed, turning red. He pulled out a small brown bear stuffed animal, which couldn't be more than 12 centimeters in height, and held it out to you. The bear had a little shirt on that said “get well soon!”
You looked up at him, eyebrows raised, lips quirked up into a smile. He saw the smile and looked away.
“Hey, listen, I saw it, it went well with the gifts… whatever, I’ll just take it back-” he went to put it back in the bag. You snatched it out of his hand, squeezing it.
“No! I love him.” You rolled over onto your back, grimaicing at another wave of pain in your gut, groaning. You dropped the bear somewhere in the sheets. “Fuck…”
Eric immediately snapped to attention, sitting with his knees up on the bed, hand reaching out to set itself on your belly. You whined and gripped his hand, squeezing it tight. He sighed.
“Oh, baby…” He crawled over you and layed behind you, pulling you into his arms so he was snuggling you. “It's alright.” You shut your eyes, mouth pressed into a tight line. When the cramps had subsided somewhat, he sat up. “I'm gonna get you some water so you can take the Advil, then we can snuggle, ok?” Head half-buried in the sheets, you nodded. He huffed out a small laugh, leaving the room. He appeared again only a minute later, holding a glass of water out to you. You took it and he popped open the Advil, turning them over in your hand and dropping them. You took them, settling back down, blanket pulled tight over you.
“Where's the candy you bought me?” You asked, eyes opening just a crack. He handed them to you wordlessly. You opened up the pack and began to eat them, still sulking. He smiled as he watched you.
“You're fucking ridiculous.” He crawled behind you to snuggle you again, one hand massaging your belly, the other running up and down your arm. He pressed a kiss behind your ear, mumbling soft words of comfort and praise into it. You set the candy aside and closed your eyes, settling back into his touch.
“Love you…” you mumbled, sleep calling to you now that the cramps had (mostly) subsided. He presses another kiss to your neck.
“Love you too, idiot.” He tugged you a bit closer, squeezing you.
Your eyes opened again.
“Wait.” You grabbed the small bear he had given you. He groaned.
“Oh- what, come one, it's stupid.” He didn't stop you, however, as you snuggled back down with it held close to your chest. He grunted.
“Idiot.”
