One in the same

Summary:

Redglove reminisces on the fact that he, by technicality through his vessel of choice, is X. His Lord is there to help him through the thought.

Notes:

In the Sinister Minds canon, Redglove is "bound" to X, as Redglove possesses an old vessel of his. This can be interpreted as Redglove technically being X, much like how the Guardians are X.

Weird stuff.

(Also by technicality means Glee Co.(iirc?) and Meatshow are both reflection pieces, as they're kinda both about self identity and finding oneself.)

Work Text:

"You are also a part of X? Is that so?

...

I would like to think you don't feel... inferior to me, as a result of this-"

"Do you think I'm inferior?"

X sat up properly on the grass. They were sitting side by side, overlooking a cliff's edge, the stars highlighting the contours of his face. He looked stunning, to be frank.

"Hmm. I have no reason to think of you as such, Redglove, don't you worry your little head about that. I suppose you are me as much as I am you, and I do look quite highly upon myself," X laughed. "If we are the same being, why would I see you any different, my sweet?"

Redglove shuffled back around to look at X with mild interest, making direct eye contact as he continued his monologue.

"I can see that desire for detail in your eyes. If you must know, I do look upon you with some modicrum of respect."

"Really?"

"There's a reason your guts aren't hanging from the ceiling like party banners." X brought a hand up behind him, crawling up to his head and scratching behind his ears. An unfamiliar caring gesture. Redglove didn't flinch.

"You bring a level of comedy to this place," X continued. "A comedy to balance out the tragedy I reign. You may be me, but you are, regardless, something unique. Something new. Worthy. Does that mean anything to you?"

"But if both of us are bound like so, then..."

"Are you trying to get me to confirm that you are your own individual person? To say it for you?"

Redglove looked away. Was he stewing in rage or shame?

"That's not for me to say. You choose your own identity." X shuffled up, bringing his knees to his chest. "If you wish to separate yourself from me, so be it. If you wish to continue on this path, calling yourself X and considering us one in the same, so be it. This is your choice. I can only guide you."

The hum of acknowledgment Redglove let out was pathetic. He turned away and seemed to shrink in on himself. Thinking. Contemplating.

"Let me phrase it like this; do you want to be your own person?"

Redglove didn't respond. Where was his usual confidence? His flair?

X calmly leaned over and gathered him into his arms, holding him close as he settled back down in the grass. He hugged him close, his chest against Redglove's back, hands trailing down his arms. X buried his face into Redglove's neck and heard a quiet yet excited trill in response.

"...was that noise a yes to my question?" X said, a sly tone in his voice.

"Of COARSE it is, schweinhund!" Redglove huffed in response, his face blushing, iliciting a quiet chuckle from X. "Just... geeve me taime too... Dwell on eet. Oo-key?"

X pressed a slow kiss to the juncture of his neck and collarbone. "Take your time then, mein leibe.”
