The energon was on his servos.
He was assigned to take out an autobot camp by Megatron. He did it with no hesitation. Breakdown stared at all their bodies, scattered around the camp. He almost felt remorse for them.
But it was for a good cause. The decepticon cause. They needed to take over this camp to retrieve autobot intel that would benefit the cause. He walked over to the computer, typing away at it. He downloaded the data, stealing it. When he turned around after he was done, he looked at the corpses again.
He then looked down at himself. His own body was covered in energon. He was disgusted by it. He hated getting energon on him, it grossed him out. But for their cause, he put up with it. He can always wash it off.
Suddenly, Bee popped into his mind. Why did he randomly think of Bee? It was weird. But then he thought…what would Bee think of this? What would Bee think of Breakdown killing his companions? Friends even? Bee would hate him for sure. That's why he was never going to know.
He circled back around to the computer, checking for any cameras. When he found that there are, he erased any and all footage of him going into this camp. There, now Bee will never know.
He turned back around and exited the camp, evidence erased and information retrieved.
Mission completed.
