Clovis didn’t expect to be up tonight, he thought he’d be asleep still. But as the son of Hypnos he thought he’d sleep as long as he could, but something kept him up tonight, he wasn’t sure what did.
As he was musing what was keeping him up, he heard the harpies screeching, and thought it was that. But it wasn’t, and he had this nagging feeling he shouldn’t try to sleep until he figured it out.
So, like any demigod teen, he snuck out of his cabin quietly, then he heard someone coming out of the lake near his cabin. Which he thought odd, as no one should’ve been outside at night, technically anyway.
Quietly watching towards the lake he sees a figure sitting on the sand, as he gets closer, he realizes it’s Percy.
Clovis obviously knew Percy, maybe not as well as others but he knew him. But what no one knew, is that Clovis is in love with Percy. He didn’t know exactly when it began, but all he knew is that he fell, and fell hard.
As he was going to quietly call out to him, he didn’t expect to hear crying, which made him snap his mouth shut. Clovis decided that he couldn’t leave Percy alone to cry, maybe he should’ve, but Clovis just couldn’t, no matter how hard he should’ve.
Slowly making his way to where Percy is sitting, he sat beside Percy, not saying anything yet, but letting him know that he was here and definitely heard him crying.
Percy sniffled and Clovis decided to ignore seeing him wipe his tears away. When Percy finally looked Clovis’ way, he felt his heart skip a beat.
“Why are you down here at this hour?” Clovis asked softly, obviously not wanting to upset Percy. He never liked upsetting Percy, he wasn’t sure if many people really did.
When Percy actually turned to look at him, Clovis got slightly distracted when looking into Percy’s sea green eyes, he couldn’t help it. He shook his head to focus again when he noticed Percy carefully start talking, looking unsure of himself.
“Nightmares.” That’s the only thing Percy said before looking away, Clovis assumed out of embarrassment and shame. Percy looked ashamed of having nightmares, and Clovis assumed it was because of how everyone sees him as the savior of Olympus.
Clovis didn’t know what to say to Percy’s reply about having a nightmare. Clovis knew that saying any false reassurances won’t do anything, and Clovis didn’t know if Percy even wanted them, so he stayed quiet for a bit.
Clovis hesitated and then slowly brushed his hand against Percy’s, to see what he’d do. When Percy didn’t pull away but instead interlocked their fingers together, Clovis was shocked. He ended up yawning, feeling sleep slowly taking its toll on him, trying to pull him under into its grasp, but Clovis fought it for once, wanting to be there for Percy.
He ended up blurting out, “do you want to sleep in my cabin with me?” In the process he cursed himself in his head when Percy’s head snapped up. Clovis panicked and started to backtrack.
“I mean-” he started but Percy just smiled at him, throwing him for a loop and making Clovis feel butterflies in his stomach again.
“Let's go then.” Percy said simply, and Clovis wanted to scream, Percy said it so simply, so casual that Clovis wanted to shake him. Because how is any of this simple, Clovis didn’t think it was, but Percy sure did.
Letting Percy help him up, their hands still interlocked, it didn’t look like Percy wanted to let go. So Clovis led them to his cabin, both of them being quiet and avoiding the harpies as best as they could. Thankfully they got to Clovis’ cabin safely.
Opening the door to his cabin, Clovis made Percy take off his shoes as soon as he got inside. Clovis kicked off his own slippers lazily as he watched Percy kick off his converse when Clovis made him take off his shoes.
Clovis looked up and down at Percy’s clothes, thankful that he was in pajamas, which Clovis didn’t know why he doubted Percy wouldn’t be, it is late at nice after all.
Though Clovis thought Percy looked cute in his blue pajamas that had waves on them, shaking his head to rid the thought, Clovis led Percy to his bed.
Clovis’ eyes fluttered instantly as he laid in his bed, he barely heard Percy’s soft laugh at him, but he sure felt Percy’s body gently curl against him.
Clovis doesn’t remember falling asleep, but he did remember feeling Percy’s fingers running through his blonde hair, and that felt amazing to Clovis.
A few hours later Clovis woke to a start, sitting up confused, he found Percy, but he was thrashing in his sleep. Clovis didn’t know if he should wake him, as he knew some people can react violently if awoken from nightmares.
Clovis watched Percy for a bit with a heavy heart, and started humming, using his powers to calm Percy in his dream, he hoped it worked.
After a few minutes, he felt Percy fall back to sleep. Clovis smiled slightly before falling asleep again himself.
