Leaves rustling, the trees sway in the wind. The moon, nice and full, hangs above the rooftops of a city. Sitting on one of those rooftops is Night Ninja, and he’s… crying? Sure enough, he’s bent over, head in his hands, crying his eyes out. His ninjalinos are nowhere to be seen, and there isn’t a soul in sight for miles. The other villains are all taking the night off, or wreaking havoc in other places, so there is no one to “bother” this sad little ninja, although he could really use it right about now. Loneliness washes over him, as Night Ninja’s tiny body rocks back and forth from the rasping sobs escaping him. Just then, some footsteps sound behind him.
“Hey! What are you doing this time! Where are your Ninjalinos?” a voice asks.
Night Ninja dries his tears and jumps up, a cocky smirk already on his face.
“Taking the night off. But that’s ok, I can face you all alone, PJ Pests.”, Night Ninja said coyly.
“Oh really. Well, it’s only me tonight, so you’re in luck, I guess”, the voice said.
The ninja looked very surprised. “What?! Why would it only be you?”
“The others decided to take the night off. Much like your Ninjalinos, I suppose.”
“Well then, let’s make this quick.”, Night Ninja said with a grin.
“Luckily for you, speed is my forte.” The voiced person stepped out of the shadows, revealing themselves to be none other than Catboy. A sticky splat flew directly at him, but Catboy dodged it. He responded by using his cat stripes to bind Night Ninja. Somehow, this worked, although this move had been recycled from years of using it.
“Works every time!” Catboy says confidently, and starts to leave again, before hearing sniffles from behind him. His confidence wavered for a moment.
“A-are you okay…?” Catboy asked uncertainly. Night Ninja realized that Catboy was still there, and immediately stopped crying.
“Y-yeah. of course…” but the crack in his voice gave him away.
Catboy came back and unraveled his cat stripes to free Night Ninja.
“Uhm… if you want, I could leave now…” Catboy said uncertainly.
“n-no... you can...stay… please”
So, Catboy sat down beside Night Ninja and finally sees the depth of those beautiful bright blue eyes and the agonizing pain hiding in them.
“What’s wrong?” Catboy asks with gentle but deep and true concern. Night Ninja can sense the actual concern and decides to finally, after years of hiding in the dark, come out into the light. The trauma-dumping begins.
